Position Title: Business Analyst I, II, or III (Financial Planning)

Position Purpose:

This position is responsible for assisting the financial planning and forecasting function for Basin Electric Power Cooperative (BEPC) and its subsidiaries. The financial planning and forecasting function prepares the 10-year financial forecast, annual budget, end of year estimates, coordinates the development of the long-term capital plan and provides on-going forecast updates. This position includes working effectively on a cross-functional basis with colleagues of varying seniority and presenting financial information to management, which is then used in the decision-making process affecting the direction and goals of BEPC and its subsidiaries.

Essential Functions:

  • Assist in the coordination and development of the Cooperative’s 10-year financial forecast, annual budget, and rolling budgets, including the preparation of all documents for approval and submission.

  • Schedule and conduct meetings with senior leadership, department managers, and plant managers to review plant operations budgets, financial forecast data, and capital expenditure budgets.

  • Assist with coordinating the development of performance measurement targets and objectives, which are developed by the Cooperative’s respective department and plant managers to identify successful completion of progress toward the goals.

  • Assist in the preparation of capital budgets and long-range engineering plans.

  • Provide analytical support and maintain understanding of cross-functional teams by preparing appropriate analyses for review and preparation of complex sensitivity analyses.

  • Provide analysis to identify trends and issues impacting the businesses on an ongoing basis.

Qualifications :

Business Analyst I:

  • A four-year degree in Accounting, Business Administration, Finance, or a business-related field; or

  • A two-year degree in Accounting, Business Administration, Finance, or a business-related field and 2 years of related experience working with accounting and finance systems; or

  • A high school diploma or equivalent (GED or HSED) and 4 years of related experience working with accounting and finance systems

Business Analyst II:

  • A four-year degree in Accounting, Business Administration, Finance, or a business-related field and 3 years of related experience working with accounting and finance systems; or

  • A two-year degree in Accounting, Business Administration, Finance, or a business-related field and 5 years of related experience working with accounting and finance systems; or

  • A high school diploma or equivalent (GED or HSED) and 7 years of related experience working with accounting and finance systems.

Business Analyst III:

  • A four-year degree in Accounting, Business Administration, Finance, or a business-related field and 5 years of related experience working with accounting and finance systems; or

  • A two-year degree in Accounting, Business Administration, Finance, or a business-related field and 7 years of related experience working with accounting and finance systems; or

  • A high school diploma or equivalent (GED or HSED) and 9 years of related experience working with accounting and finance systems.

Other Requirements:

  • Thorough knowledge of accounting, business, and information technology principles.

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

  • Proficient with personal computers and Microsoft Office.

  • Teamwork and collaboration skills

Typical Physical/Mental/Environmental Demands:

This position requires the ability to remain in a stationary position and to move about the office building, occasional reaching below and above shoulder level, constant use of a keyboard/computer and other office productivity machinery, bending, kneeling, lifting/carrying up to 10 pounds, and pushing/pulling up to 20 pounds. It also requires finger dexterity and hand coordination. This position requires the ability to communicate and must be able to clearly exchange accurate information. It also requires the ability to develop plans, procedures, and goals; present information to others; and work under stress to complete projects within deadlines.
