City of Bismarck Lead Maintenance Technician in Bismarck, North Dakota
Job Description
This position is responsible for supervising and performing maintenance and repairs to process equipment at the city water treatment plant, wastewater treatment plant or distribution and collection systems.
Examples of Duties
Prioritizes and plans work projects; provides technical assistance and training to work crews. Cleans, packs and repairs pumps and other equipment. Performs non-routine maintenance and repairs of a more complex nature; repairs pumps, motors, compressors, mixers, electrical systems and controls. Monitors, installs, calibrates, and repairs various mechanical equipment. Ensures compliance with safe work practices. Assists the Supervisor in implementation of safety program including training sessions, Standard Operating Procedures, safety inspections, and Safety Data Sheets. Provides assistance and support to other divisions and departments as assigned. Coordinates work with contractors, utility companies, and other city departments. Maintains parts and supplies inventory; procures equipment, parts and supplies as needed. Responds to after-hours emergencies. Participates on a rotating on call schedule. Responds to and resolves customer complaints and concerns. Processes work orders and ensure completion. Implements preventative maintenance programs. Monitors, installs, calibrates, and repairs various mechanical equipment. Performs related duties.
Minimum Qualifications
Ability to read, write and perform mathematical calculations at a level commonly associated with the completion of high school or equivalent. Experience sufficient to thoroughly understand the work of subordinate positions to be able to answer questions and resolve problems, usually associated with three to four years experience or service. Possession of or ability to readily obtain a valid drivers license issued by the State of North Dakota for the type of vehicle or equipment operated. *Lead Maintenance Technicians for the distribution and collection systems must also complete five-year training program and pass testing to obtain Class IV certification in both water distribution and collection, and possess or ability to readily obtain valid ND Class B drivers license with tanker and air brake endorsements. *Lead Maintenance Technician for wastewater treatment plant must also possess or ability to readily obtain a valid ND Class A commercial drivers license.
