Description We are seeking a Staff Accountant to join our team in Bloomington, Indiana. In this role, you will manage various accounting functions, develop and implement closing procedures, and coordinate with our accounting team to ensure the timely completion of financial statements. This role provides a long-term contract employment opportunity.

Responsibilities:

• Oversee day-to-day accounting functions and manage the accounting function of the authority

• Develop and implement month-end closing procedures and coordinate closing activities with the accounting team to assure timely completion of financial statements

• Coordinate revisions to grants and associated budget revisions

• Verify the accuracy and completeness of general ledger account balances

• Review monthly and quarterly financial statements for distribution to key personnel

• Review energy program utility consumption reports to support the agency's fiscal budget

• Assist Directors and Department managers in modifying processes to monitor approved budgets

• Ensure chart of accounts are compatible with relevant systems to promote timely reporting

• Oversee daily cash management of bank accounts

• Serve as a liaison with the department to determine the impact of system changes on accounting operations

• Review and analyze Financial Data Schedules

• Establish and maintain computer modules to facilitate input and reconciliation processes Requirements • Applicant must possess skills in Accounts Payable (AP)

• Proficiency in Accounts Receivable (AR) is required

• Candidate should be adept in performing Bank Reconciliations

• Knowledge of General Ledger is necessary

• Ability to make Journal Entries is essential

• Experience in handling Month End Close is required

• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel is a must
