Aerotek Sheet Metal Technician in Bloomington, Indiana

Welder/Fabricator

Job Description

  • The department's mission is to create, maintain, and preserve a functional and sustainable campus.

  • The Sheet Metal Technician will be responsible for installing and maintaining all sheet metal across the campus.

  • The majority of their work will be focused on hand railings, but there are many areas across campus facilities that might need sheet metal installed or fabricated.

Pay Rate:

  • $28-$34/hour

Shift:

  • Monday -Friday; 7:30am - 4:00pm

Job Responsibilities Include:

  • Perform metal repairs on mobile or stationary equipment.

  • Trim, file, grind, deburr, buff, and smooth surfaces, seams, and joints of assembled parts, using hand tools and portable power tools.

  • Install door hinges, panic bars, thresholds, motorized projector screens and mounts, and toilet partitions.

  • Maintain kitchen equipment, roof gutters, and overhead doors.

  • Install and repair roofing and flashing materials.

  • Drill and punch holes in metal for screws, bolts, and rivets.

  • Fasten seams and joints together with welds, bolts, cements, rivets, solders, caulks, metal drive clips, and bonds in order to assemble components into products or to repair sheet metal items.

Hard Skills

  • At least 2 years of experience of MIG/TIG welding

  • Fabricating Sheet Metal

  • Installing Sheet metal

  • Proficient in using hand tools and portable power tools

  • Ability to perform metal repairs and installations
