Position Summary:

Florida Atlantic University is seeking a CRU Research Lab Specialist - Boca Raton, FL.

The Division of Research supports and promotes Florida Atlantic research, creative and scholarly activities by providing faculty tools and resources to be competitive, setting strategic directions in research, ensuring responsible research practices and communicating the importance of research within and beyond the university.

Summary of Responsibilities:

• Consults the laboratory staff and principal investigators (PIs) on clinical laboratory procedures carried out at the CRU.

• Conducts remote and in-person training activities for the clinical laboratory staff.

• Locates pertinent laboratory supplies and equipment, obtains quotes from manufacturers and sales representatives.

• Develops laboratory protocols, manuals, and standard operating procedures (SOPs) for the laboratory-related tasks conducted at the CRU.

• Participates in grant-writing activities for clinical studies.

• Travels off site, if necessary, for training purposes as well as for samples collection and processing.

• Develops strategies, proposes solutions, and offers guidance to PIs and laboratory staff.

• Assists with the set-up of new clinical research studies.

• Ensures that specimens are handled properly.

• Oversees testing and sample processing to ensure that lab staff follows safety standards and regulatory requirements.

• Stays current with advancements in laboratory technology as well as any changes to regulatory and compliance standards.

• Work as a part of the team.

• Undergoes intensive research training to learn the research process.

• Supports/helps Research Assistants and Research Coordinators with laboratory procedures (e.g. samples collection and samples processing) for active research studies when necessary.

• Other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications:

Doctoral or master’s degree in a laboratory science/biology/chemistry/biomedical science and 2 years of experience in the laboratory setting.

Salary:

$50.00 per hour.
