Seasonal Facilities Maintenance:
Performs maintenance and repairs to Ridge to Rivers trailhead facilities on a set schedule.
Maintains detailed records of related work and areas of vandalism.
Work is performed autonomously, under general supervision and direction.
Is open to all interested persons aged 19 and older.
Works up to 40 hours a week for up to 9 months.
This position is designated as At-Will.
Essential Functions
Performs custodial maintenance at all Ridge to Rivers developed trailheads and trail access points. Cleans and stocks restrooms. Stocks mutt mitt dispensers. Removes and repairs vandalism. Ensures trash receptacles are emptied and in working order and picks up any trash that is scattered throughout the trailhead. Conducts maintenance and cleaning duties such as pressure washing, sweeping and scrubbing floors, and ensuring trail heads are clean and free from scattered trash. Inspects and replaces damaged trash cans.
Assists with landscape maintenance at Foothills Learning Center.
Performs facility improvement when necessary at developed trailheads and at dispersed recreation sites, including but not limited to: weed trimming, painting, sign replacement, post and rail fence repair, and smooth-wire fence repair.
Removes trash, dumped items, and campfire debris from dispersed recreation sites in Rocky Canyon and along upper 8th Street Road.
Performs other duties as assigned. Nothing in this job description restricts management's right to assign or reassign duties and responsibilities to this position at any time.
Requirements
Required Knowledge, Experience, And Training
6 months' experience performing maintenance or janitorial services.
Working knowledge of cleaning practices of parks such as mopping restroom facilities and graffiti removal; facilities maintenance procedures to include fence repair and painting; hand and power tools such as power washers, drills and string trimmers.
Ability to perform varied facilities maintenance and cleaning; work in and around public restroom facilities; safely operate all equipment and tools required; safely utilize related protective gear and safety equipment; identify and prioritize additional tasks; interact with the public and co-workers in a friendly and professional manner; display an attitude of cooperation and work harmoniously with all levels of City employees, the general public and other organizations; communicate effectively in the English language at a level necessary for efficient job performance; complete assignments in a timely fashion; understand and comply with all rules, policies and regulations; maintain prompt and regular attendance; and perform all essential and marginal functions as assigned by an authorized employee, supervisor and/or manager with or without a reasonable accommodation.
Individuals must be capable of operating vehicles safely on mountain roads, and have an acceptable driving record.
Preferred Knowledge, Experience, And Training
Two years experience performing custodial maintenance in a parks and recreation environment.
Licensing And Other Requirements
Valid state-issued driver's license.
Special Requirements
Applicants must be able to pass:
City of Boise background check processes which include a criminal history check and reference checks in accordance with the City of Boise Hiring Process Regulation

Physical Efforts
While performing the duties of this job the employee is always lifting/carrying up to 35 pounds. Also, the employee is always pushing/pulling up to 35 pounds. The noise level is frequently very loud. Work includes sensory ability to talk, hear and touch. Work in this position also includes close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision and depth perception. Employees will sit, stand, walk, stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl, reach, grasp, climb and balance. Position requires hand/finger dexterity.Additional physical efforts include: lifting/carrying and pushing/pulling up to 100 lbs.
Working Environment
The work environment will include inside conditions, outdoor weather conditions, extreme temperatures, in wet and humid conditions, areas of dust, odors, mist and gases or other airborne matter. Employees are exposed to mechanical hazards. Employees will also drive a vehicle as part of this position. Work includes protected exposure to chemicals.
This position works:
19-Hour Temporary
All temporary part-time employees working less than an average of 19-hours per week are not currently eligible for benefits.
4-Month Temporary
All 4-month temporary employees working an average of 40-hours per week will accrue personal leave which can be used during employment.
8-Month Seasonal
In addition to accruing personal leave, anyone in an 8-month seasonal position working over an average of 30-hours per week is eligible for medical coverage.
9-Month Temporary
In addition to personal leave accrual and medical coverage, a position that is classified as a 9-month temporary is eligible for PERSI retirement benefits.
