Western Aircraft Senior Accountant in Boise, Idaho
Job Summary
The Senior Accountant will work directly with the Assistant Controller to manage daily, weekly, and monthly accounting tasks and activities to ensure accurate, complete, and timely financial reporting. In addition, performing and supporting internal and external audits, SOX compliance and producing year-end audit deliverables and provides support to the finance team for inquiries and special projects.
Duties & Responsibilities
Month-end and quarter-end close and reporting
Completes monthly accounting close procedures and deliverables that includes journal entries, reconciliations, and reports in accordance with GAAP
Assists with monthly analysis of reporting to ensure financial information has been recorded accurately.
Reconciles and recommends adjustments to general ledge accounts, bank statements, leases, fixed assets and intercompany accounts
Reconciles cash including completion of monthly bank reconciliations
Manage accruals and prepayments, reconcile P&L and balance sheet accounts
Responsible for monthly reconciliations
Prepares monthly journal entries and monthly account reconciliations
Prepares monthly account analysis and follow up on any necessary adjustments
Supports quarterly and annual SOX and audit deliverables
Assists with cost savings programs including continuous improvement and automation of the accounting and reporting process
Works independently and performs moderately complex analysis of financial statements
General Accounting/Finance duties
Assist in and prepare key associated reporting metrics
Learn and cross-train with other departmental accounting functions
Qualification & Job Requirements
Experience and Competencies:
5 years’ progressive experience in general accounting or similar role
Prefer 2 years’ experience with sales and/or excise tax or accounting analysis
SOX experience preferred
Strong proficiency and experience with Microsoft Excel
Education & Certifications
Bachelor’s degree in accounting/finance
Other Prerequisites
Pass pre-employment drug screen and background check
Ability to obtain Airport Issued security badge
Work Environment & Physical Requirements
Work is performed primarily indoors in a temperature-controlled environment. Requires sitting 6-8 hours a day. Occasional lifting and carrying to 50 lbs. Constantly requires clear vision to read printed material and computer screen. Constantly requires repetitive movement of the wrist hands, and/or fingers.
