MIGRANT FAMILY LIAISON

Part-time position, 300 hours per year

Start date: Sept 30,2024

Wages per classified wage scale

QUALIFICATIONS:\ Fluent in English and Spanish\ Ability to follow complicated procedures accurately\ Ability to empathize, encourage, and motivate migrant students\ Knowledge of community-based agencies and organizations, schools, and the Migrant Education Program (MEP)\ Strong ability to network and mobilize resources for migrant students\ Excellent written and oral communication skills\ Organizational skills, such as prioritizing multiple tasks according to importance\ Data entry skills for accurate record-keeping and detailed documentation\ Ability to work independently and as part of a collaborative team\ Outgoing, productive attitude\ Professional appearance and demeanor\ Strong sense of ethics and confidentiality

PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:\ Follow district Identification and Recruitment Plan and Quality Control Plan to correctly identify and recruit migrant families to the MEP through outreach, including visits to families, local agricultural employers and other community agencies\ Conduct interviews at the parents availability, including after regular working hours as needed\ Communicate with newly identified migrant families to identify and provide referrals to needed services and assist them in overcoming the obstacles to obtaining those services\ Serve as a language conduit between community agencies, schools, and migrant families as needed\ Maintain accurate, reliable, and comprehensive records of contacts made with agencies and services provided to migrant families through weekly contact logs, certificates of eligibility, etc.\ Attend meetings, in-services, and trainings requested by the district or migrant program\ Help with planning and participating in parent involvement programs\ Determine Priority for Services status\ Annually verify each students residency in the district\ Accurately enter data\ Participate in the districts Comprehensive Needs Assessment\ Communicate regularly with the Federal Programs Director\ Other duties as assigned

CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT: Have private transportation with proof of insurance

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: Ability to meet with community agencies, parents, and other service providers to provide educational continuity to migrant students as needed
