Description

Our client, a thriving non-profit organization is on the lookout for a proficient and experienced Financial Controller to guide their team.

In this role, you will independently direct the financial operations, including Payroll, Accounts Payable/Receivable, Purchasing, and other areas of accounting. You will be responsible for overseeing accounting functions, financial reporting, cash and liquidity position, and regulatory compliance. The successful candidate will also provide strategic guidance to our clients third-party accounting provider.

Responsibilities:

• Manage accounts payable team and purchasing process

• Review and approve biweekly payroll

• Monitor organizational cash inflows/outflows and provide updates on liquidity concerns to the head of finance

• Build and sustain banking relationships

• Supervise our relationship with a third-party accounting service provider ensuring GAAP compliance

• Oversee investment accounting, and coordinate with external financial, compliance, and tax advisors

• Shore up organization policies and internal controls

• Mentor, manage and support the finance team

• Lead crucial finance projects as applicable

• Handle other duties as the business requires

Requirements

Required Qualifications:

• A BS degree in Accounting, Finance, or Economics

• 7-10+ years of progressive experience in Accounting/Finance with demonstrated leadership ability

• Must have managed, mentored and developed a team

• CPA and/or audit experience is a plus

• Solid understanding of GAAP accounting

• Experience in nonprofit tax preparation e.g. Form 990

• Skill in financial statement preparation and knowledge of investment/endowment accounting highly preferred

•Non-profit accounting experience helpful
