Boston Public Schools Special Education Supervisor of Related Services (Anticipated Vacancy) (SY24-25) in Boston, Massachusetts

This position is an anticipated vacancy. It is expected to be vacant . However, the current incumbent has a right to rescind their retirement, leave, or resignation up until the day of the expected vacancy date. Your hire will not be confirmed until the position is vacated. Reports To: Special Education Assistant Director for Related Services Responsibilities Support the improvement of student outcomes per the IEP Assist the Assistant Director in the ongoing direct supervision of Related Services staff within the schools and/or arrangement of consultation, technical assistance, guidance, and professional development: Completion of staff Performance Evaluations Specially-designed instruction and services in Highly Specialized Strands Differentiated instruction and services Inclusive educational practices Regulatory compliance Student and family as partners in planning and problem solving Cultural competence Assist the Assistant Director in: Special Education enrollment projections for the schools Staffing projections for the schools Caseload distribution Discipline specific equipment purchase Vetting material and supply orders from Related Services staff Scrutinizing schedules of Related Services Staff Analyzing reports written by Related Services staff and from outside sources Attending IEP meetings when needed Training and mentoring staff Assist the Assistant Director in aligning the work of direct service staff with best practices Maintain student teaching/practicum contracts with colleges and universities Maintain contracts with Head Start, Dimock, and other external groups Strengthen the engagement of students and families as partners Engage students, families, and schools in planning and problem solving Facilitate on-going, proactive communication among families, schools, Special Education and Related Services Support the maintenance and improvement of regulatory compliance Provide consultation, technical assistance, guidance and support to Related Services providers Serve as support for Related Services providers as needed regarding independent evaluations, mediations, and due process hearings General responsibilities Serve as a member of the Related Services Leadership Staff Serve as co-supervisor/evaluator of Related Services providers with the Assistant Director Perform other duties related to this job description as required by the Assistant Superintendent of Special Education and the Assistant Director Qualifications Required Master’s Degree in special education or a related field Demonstrated capability to work collaboratively with administrators, direct service providers, families, students, and outside partners Certification in the field of special education in one of the following areas: Occupational Therapy, Physical Therapy, Speech-Language, Audiology, Vision, Assistive Technology/Augmentative and Alternative Communication, and Adaptive Physical Education Administrative/supervisory certification and/or experience Five years successful experience in an urban school system or urban human service setting, in a particular field Excellent problem solving, communication, organizational, and professional development skills Demonstrated expertise and experience in at least one or more of the following: Autism Communication disorders Developmental delays Hearing impairments Intellectual impairments Learning disabilities Multiple disabilities Physical disabilities Vision impairments English language learners with disabilities Early intervention and/or early childhood education Transition planning and services Related services (Speech-Language Therapy, Occupational Therapy, Physical Therapy, Vision Services or Adapted Physical Education) Inclusive practices Preferred Administration License TERMS: BASAS 10B, 211 days Please refer to www.bostonpublicschools.org/ohc http://www.bostonpublicschools.org/ohc (under "Employee Benefits and Policies") for more information on salary and compensation.
