FSO Tax Technology and Transformation offers services to companies in response to the impact of existing and emerging technology, including the growing data burden that many businesses face, driving efficiencies to create a cost-effective tax function and the need to understand how to make data an asset. The underlying objective of the combined offerings is to help businesses navigate the digital age of tax transparency alongside new trends in tax compliance and tax audit methods, as well as helping to solve the most pressing challenges that businesses face. Tax Technology and Transformation is composed of the following services:
Digital tax transformation
Tax applications-as-a-service
Tax data management and improvement
Tax analytics and reporting enhancement
Emerging tax technology, including robotic process automation (RPA), artificial intelligence (AI), blockchain, cloud solutions, data lake development and business intelligence innovation
Tax technology program mobilization
Custom tax technology application development and deployment
Tax technology strategy and road mapping
Direct and indirect tax systems implementation and configuration
Post-transaction (M&A) tax function operational services
Tax operating model transformation, including process improvement, risk and controls
Tax function assessments
The Opportunity
Our FSO Tax Technology and Transformation practice will give you the opportunity to further develop your skills while assisting our financial services clients in dealing with the operational challenges that their world class tax functions are facing today. You will be working with clients to improve the operational effectiveness and efficiency of their tax functions and assist them to better connect with executive
management.

Your Key Responsibilities
Depending on the needs of our clients and your work experience, there are many different types of projects you could be working on; identifying ways to improve operational effectiveness in tax functions, reviewing the process and controls that are in place including technology, looking at effectiveness of the various technology systems our tax clients use to increase automation and data quality throughout tax processes, assessing the overall risk to establish a proper control environment; designing and building custom tax applications. As a Senior, you would be working with leadership as a part of these exciting and impactful projects. In addition, you will be required to:
Understand key tax processes, technology, data, analytics, and risks/controls
Establish relationships with peers and effectively balance projects across teams
Support a team in planning and executing internal and external projects
Grow technical skills and business knowledge through training and hands-on experience
Based on projects and your location, this role may require travel. Some employees in this role travel between 30-80% of the time.

Taking ownership of assigned tasks and monitoring them until completion, including documenting requirements, configuration, testing, debugging, project profitability, and tax systems and process configuration
Strong leadership ability, attention to detail, problem-solving skills, analytical abilities
Identifying ways to automate manual tasks using existing financial or tax systems and emerging technologies
Ability to work on deliverables from offshore teams (as needed) to deliver projects to time, cost and quality requirements
Consolidating tax data to make analysis and planning more efficient
Improving reporting capabilities to enhance our clients’ ability to evaluate risk and capitalize on opportunities
Desire and demonstrated ability to provide leadership within a team
To qualify for the role, you must have
A bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Information Systems, Economics and/or a master’s degree in Accounting, Tax Technology, Management Information Systems, or Computer Science or related field and a minimum of 2 years of related work experience
You are required to have one of the following certifications, or the ability to obtain one of these certifications when you join EY: CPA, JD, Six Sigma Green/Black Belt and/or Project Management Professional “PMP”; Master’s degree in Accounting, Tax, Business Administration, Finance, Computer Science, Information Systems or Engineering; Certain other certifications accepted, please inquire for additional details
Exposure to the financial services industry, accounting/finance/tax, tax or finance performance improvement, tax software development and/or implementation
A strong interest in technology and its use in business processes
Excellent communication and business writing skills
Demonstrated ability to capture and synthesize business requirements
A natural flair for problem solving and an entrepreneurial approach to work
Strong organizational and time management skills, with exceptional client-serving consulting skills
Ideally, you may also have
Experience in project management
Experience implementing third-party direct or indirect tax systems (such as ONESOURCE, CorpTax, Vertex, Avalara, Longview, etc.)
Microsoft Office VBA development
Microsoft Power BI suite, including Power Pivot, Power Query, Power View and Power Map
Knowledge and experience in the design and development of databases (specifically SQL Server)
Experience with developing ETL solutions using SSIS or other tools
ERP experience, including SAP and/or Oracle
SharePoint development
Experience managing large, multidisciplinary projects that impact tax (e.g., ERP implementations, tax co-sourcing engagements, finance transformations)

What we offer
We offer a comprehensive compensation and benefits package where you’ll be rewarded based on your performance and recognized for the value you bring to the business. The base salary range for this job in all geographic locations in the US is $95,600 to $157,900. The salary range for New York City Metro Area, Washington State and California (excluding Sacramento) is $114,700to $179,400. Individual salaries within those ranges are determined through a wide variety of factors including but not limited to education, experience, knowledge, skills and geography. In addition, our Total Rewards package includes medical and dental coverage, pension and 401(k) plans, and a wide range of paid time off options. Join us in our team-led and leader-enabled hybrid model. Our expectation is for most people in external, client serving roles to work together in person 40-60% of the time over the course of an engagement, project or year. Under our flexible vacation policy, you’ll decide how much vacation time you need based on your own personal circumstances.
