Hatch has an exciting career opportunity for a Water Resources Engineer to join its team in Boston, MA. The Boston team is recognized as a center of excellence focused on green infrastructure (GI), low impact development, landscape architecture, landscape restoration, urban forestry, bioengineering, and nature-based solutions for climate-resiliency projects.
Position Summary:
We are seeking candidates to work as part of our team on a wide range of local, national, and international green infrastructure and site development projects for municipal and private sector clients. As a Stormwater Engineer, you will work with Junior- and Senior-level Civil Engineers and Landscape Architects providing engineering design and stormwater modeling support. You will progress design concepts through design development and work with the project team to produce Construction Documents. The ideal candidate is a motivated individual who possesses the ability to work with an interdisciplinary team, takes initiative on tasks and coordinating with others, adheres to project deadlines, and demonstrates a good work ethic.
As a successful candidate, you will:
Support our interdisciplinary team in the planning, design and overseeing construction on a variety of site development and green infrastructure projects including: Complete and Green Streets; transit developments; parks and greenways; constructed wetlands; green roof systems; and the restoration of slopes and shorelines using bioengineering techniques.
Perform overall site layout, grading utility layout, drainage, and erosion and sediment control design.
Oversee stormwater calculations and modeling, project document reports, and complete quantity take-offs for cost estimates.
Prepare and/or review profiles, cross sections, and construction details.
Write general and technical specifications, lead the development of project design drawings and prepare project bidding packages in an accurate and timely manner.
Oversee preparation of Contract Documents.
Manage construction support tasks such as submittals and RFIs between the contractor and designer.
Lead all phases of project management, including: proposal development; client interaction; and technical oversight of a project.
Consult with supervising engineer concerning unusual problems and developments.
You bring to the role:
Bachelor of Science degree in Civil Engineering (or equivalent degree).
Six (6) to ten (10) years of design experience in water and sustainable stormwater management projects.
Registered Professional Engineer license (Massachusetts license preferred).
Ability to interpret national and local codes and standards to ensure compliance.
Proficient with AutoCAD Civil 3D, Autoturn, and HydroCAD (or equivalent stormwater modeling programs).
Experience with Microstation and GIS/ArcView is a strong plus.
Knowledge and experience with LEED, Envision, and/or SITES rating systems are a plus.
Proficient with Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
Must have excellent written and verbal communication skills.
This position report to the Senior Project Manager.
