Field Service Technician

Perform corrective maintenance repairs, general report work and preventative maintenance on Diesel Powered and EV Mobile Equipment as various locations in the field and workshop
Accountable for quality of workmanship
Work carried out within acceptable repair time frames
Available for work during normal business hours and outside of normal business hours including weekends and being available for on call and emergency breakdowns.
Main tasks and responsibilities
Ensure all work is carried out in compliance with company HSE regulations
Carry out electrical and mechanical fault finding and emergency corrective repairs on Diesel Powered and EV Mobile Equipment.
Carry out fault finding and general repair work on Diesel Powered and EV Mobile Equipment
Carry out PM servicing as required in compliance with PM schedules provided can completion of relevant PM checklists
Carry out warranty repairs in accordance with factory requirements and correct completion of all Warranty checklists and documentation procedures.
Prepares well for service jobs: service history, parts, customer address and contact, onsite on time etc.
Ensure all repair and service work is carried out in an efficient and timely manner.
Ability to work independently and without direct supervision.
Ability to learn new technology and processes on Kalmar products
Actively builds good customer relationships by professional behaviour and customer-minded interaction
Actively builds profitable Kalmar service business in the country by well planning work days and providing service at high quality and on time to customers
Leaves the customer site having cleaned the workplace, reviewed the work done with the customer, checked for additional service opportunities, service report sent and properly signing out with the customer contact
Administration
Complete all relevant documentation as required using respective applications in and accurate and timely manner
Represent the company in a professional manner to meet the client’s expectations
Other tasks as directed by Service Manager, Dispatcher, Supervisor or Leading Hand
KPI’s
Safety: Zero accidents, completion of Take 5’s and Vehicle Inspections
Work organisation: 5S Clean and Tidy
Service Reports: Completed daily – Set to WDON
Customer satisfaction related to service: Customer survey and feedback
What you’ll need to succeed
Education
Minimum completion of year 10 Preferred
Australian Mechanical trade qualification
Heavy Commercial Vehicle Cert III AUR31220
Mobile Plant Cert III AUR31212
Battery Electric Vehicle Inspection and Servicing Skill Set AURSS00064
Automotive Electric Vehicle Technology Cert III AUR32721
AUR20220 Certificate II Automotive Air Conditioning Technology
Working knowledge and use of electrical schematics and symbols; AC/DC motors and drives; troubleshooting techniques and limit-setting procedures.High Risk Work Licenses
Forklift operator’s license
Elevated work platform license
Operates mechanical equipment to troubleshoot machine problems and evaluates correctness and completeness of repairs that have been done on the machine.
Experience
Minimum 10 years post apprenticeship experience: specialising in fault finding, repairs and PM Service on heavy mobile plant. E.g. earth moving equipment, heavy duty forklift trucks, container handling equipment, mining equipment, marine equipment, generating sets, electrics forklifts etc. Skills & Knowledge
Knowledge of hydraulics, electronics, drivetrain and diesel engines
Knowledge of Electric Vehicle systems and charging requirements to prolong batter life.
Basic to intermediate skills using Word Doc, Spreadsheet Sheet and Email Business software and Applications and DOS based programs
Customer relationship skills
Strong analytical and numeracy skills
Effective time management skills
Sound communication skills (written and verbal)
Excellent interpersonal skills (ability to deal with all stakeholders in the business)
Knowledge of the mechanical handling, port or industrial operations industry sector
