Community Food Co-op Co-op Downtown Front End Assistant Manager in Bozeman, Montana
Full-time position available. Shifts are Sunday-Thursday with a combination of morning and evening shifts. Wage DOE.Purpose: Assist with managing the Front End and Grocery Department with a focus on creating exceptional customer experiences. Ensure effective and efficient department operations, and promote a safe, positive, and supportive work environment for staffSpecific Responsibilities of the Co-op Downtown Assistant Front End ManagerAssist the Department Manager in the following responsibilities:Staff Management and SupportProvide motivation, direction, and feedback to staff to ensure that standards for service, product quality, and productivity are met.Consistently monitor staff attendance and punctuality, report deviations to Front End Service Manager, and follow up with staff according to the Front-End policy.Act as a main point of contact for Front End coverage/emergencies, on the Front-End Managers’ Day offalong with the other scheduled manager on duty, work scheduled shifts and fill shifts as needed for emergencies and general shift coverage.Be familiar with, and comfortable with training on all shifts for the CDT front end.Assist with implementation of staff training and development plans, scheduling, and other identified priorities.Develop and maintain knowledge of other CDT departments sufficient to assist in the absence of another department’s manager.Schedule one-on-one meetings with staff as necessaryCashieringCashier as needed, maintaining a high level of service and accuracy.Ensure that customers are served in prompt, friendly, and courteous manner.Be a floor rover, assisting in various shifts as needed and help to drive sales.Assist with training on, understanding of, and compliance with all other state and federal regulations related to alcohol sales, SNAP benefits, Downtown Dollars, and other processes and issues relevant to cashiering. Maintain current shift checklists, tools, and workflows.Ensure all staff adhere to food safety and sanitation guidelines of the GCC Health Department.Ensure staff have access to, understand and actively engage in Co-op promotions, including sales flyers, Food E News, coupons, and other marketing-related materials.Work with CDT managers to develop plans and goals for increased sales throughout the year.Ensure cashiers are knowledgeable about products at CDT and are working to actively promote and sell products at CDT.Be knowledgeable about CWM Products, know how to look up inventory of products in Catapult to answer customer questions, and/or assist customers in reaching the correct departments at CWM to respond to their questions.Work with your manager to ensure the Registers are kept clean and organized including register storage cupboards, drawers, and Lost & Found. Develop a system for maintaining L&F.Work with your manager, and the Store Manager on the CDT Sampling program to promote products.Cash Accuracy and Security SystemsWork with Front End Service Manager, Finance Staff, and Security Specialist to:Maintain and improve accurate systems; monitor and coach staff on cash over/shorts.Ensure security and accuracy of cash.Maintain security of the store, ensuring that opening and closing security procedures are followed.Follow the protocols for handling shoplifters, disorderly customers, and other emergencies, providing leadership as needed.Merchandising, Receiving, and StockingEnsure staff properly receive all orders according to protocols and maintain fully stocked shelves/coolers that are clean and adequately rotated. Train and hold staff accountable for maintaining floor stock levels.Work with your manager to ensure inventory is accurate, including cycle counts for all grocery departments working with the Store Purchaser.Assist with the development and implementation of receiving and stocking plans; adjust as needed and communicate to all who need to know, including staff and vendors.Reconcile deliveries, process invoices and submit product credits in a timely accurate manner.Assist in merchandising, printing shelf tags, and maintaining accuracy in the perpetual inventory system.Alternating with other CDT managers/assistant managers cover store receiver breaks daily basis.OtherOversee cleaning tasks, maintenance, and upkeep of grocery shelves, coolers, and dining area equipment and fixtures.Assist in troubleshooting equipment breakdowns; report to others who need to know or help; prioritize proper functioning and prompt repairs to cash registers.Assist in the maintenance of Front-End policies, communication log, and department phone list.Meet with CDT Front End Manager to regularly review and prepare work plans.Regularly meet with CDT Managers to assess and adjust production and staffing to meet sales levels.Be willing and able to assist in all CDT departments as needed.QualificationsQualificationsExperience that demonstrates the ability or aptitude to successfully meet all expectations listed above required.Experience supervising and managing staff desired, preferably in a retail setting.Experience working with email and MS Office software sufficient to communicate, and to complete tasks with accuracy and in a timely manner required.Ability to work a flexible schedule to meet the needs of the business; some early mornings, evenings, holiday, and weekend shifts required.Ability to lift up to 30 lbs. throughout shift, occasionally 50 lbs.Ability to stand for long periods and to bend and twist repeatedly; ability to lift product overhead and/or to climb ladders with product.
