Position Details
General Statement
The Campus Maintenance section of Facilities Services is responsible for maintenance, repair, renovation, and replacement of buildings, grounds, equipment, and utilities for all university departments.
Duties and Responsibilities
Painting interior walls, ceilings, floors and trim.
Painting exterior trim, doors and windows.
Refinish furniture, prepare and finish cabinetry.
Install and patch all types of wall coverings.
Prepare and patch new and damaged sheetrock walls and ceilings for painting (tape and texture).
Paint curbs and stripe streets.
Install and replace ceramic tile (thin-set).
Other related duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications – Experience, Education, Knowledge & Skills
High School diploma or GED , plus successful completion of a four-year apprenticeship program, or an equivalent combination of relevant education and experience.
Two years of full-time journeyman-level painting experience.
Demonstrated competence applying the standard practices and methods of the painting trade.
Demonstrated competence working with painting tools, materials and equipment.
Demonstrated experience applying paints and other finishes by brush, roller and spray gun.
Working knowledge of the characteristics of paints, varnishes, stains, shellacs, etc.
Demonstrated competence working with perfatape tools, materials, and equipment.
Demonstrated ability to work from blueprints, plans, sketches and specifications.
Preferred Qualifications – Experience, Education, Knowledge & Skills
Experience balancing multiple work assignments, meeting deadlines, and exercising adaptability to changing priorities.
Experience interfacing with a Computerized Maintenance Management System.
Experience working in an industrial spray booth.

Position Special Requirements/Additional Information
Must possess a valid driver’s license, an acceptable driving record, and meet all State of Montana requirements to operate State/University vehicles. (If successful candidate possesses a valid out-of-state driver’s license, must obtain a valid Montana driver’s license within 60 days of hire.)

Painter III – $31.03
