Salvation Army Kettle Driver in Brainerd, Minnesota

Position Summary The Salvation Army Northern Division Brainerd Lakes is committed to "Doing the Most Good" by providing holistic, person-centered services to individuals and families in need. These services include worship services and pastoral care; short- and long-term case management; food, clothing, utility, rent, and housing support; and connections to community partners. The annual Red Kettle Campaign runs through the holiday season and raises essential funds for the organization's programs. During this time, thousands of bell ringers collect donations at red kettles placed on street corners and in front of stores. The Kettle Driver is a seasonal position that safely transports, delivers, secures, and collects kettles while providing reliable transportation for bell ringers. This role also maintains kettles, signage, and vehicle cleanliness, ensuring smooth and secure operations throughout the fundraising season. This position will be approximately 40 hours per week for a 6 week period. 40hrs/week $14.00 - $15.00/hour Essential Functions (approximate time spent) Kettle Distribution and Security (60%): Safely transport, deliver, and collect kettles, ensuring accurate tracking of both kettle and tag numbers. Place kettles at designated sites, secure them with padlocks, and collect them at the end of the day or sooner if needed. Ensure all kettles are stored securely in a designated safe room or location. Bell Ringer Transportation and Support (30%): Provide transportation for paid bell ringers to and from their designated sites. Record drop-off and pickup times, ensuring each bell ringer has the necessary equipment, including kettles, bells, and aprons. Kettle and Sign Maintenance (5%): Replace kettles and update signage as needed or directed to ensure consistent operations at each site. Vehicle Maintenance and Cleanliness (5%): Report any vehicle maintenance or performance issues to the supervisor. Maintain the interior of the vehicle in a clean and orderly condition. Education and Experience High School diploma or equivalent required. Pass background checks, possess a valid driver's license, and meet MVR driver's qualifications. Competencies Good interpersonal and communication skills. Works with integrity, valuing honesty and diligence. Working Conditions Moderate physical work, must be able to drive, sit, stand, lift, bend, twist, and reach. Must be able to lift 50 pounds required. Professional environment; not eligible for a remote-friendly work environment. Must be able to communicate clearly with colleagues and donors. Work hours include days and evenings Mondays through Saturdays. Supervisory Responsibilities None. Driving/Travel Requirements Regular driving in an assigned area using an agency vehicle.
