What You'll Be Doing

Job Scope: We are looking for a highly skilled and experienced Electrical Engineer for onsite support at Branchburg, NJ facilities. The ideal candidate will have over 5 years of experience in electrical engineering design, construction, and excellent communication skills. This role will require independent work and close collaboration with system owners, contractors, and internal teams to ensure that all electrical systems are installed, maintained, and functioning according to the highest standards. You will be responsible for managing projects, verifying as-built conditions, preparing design documents, and ensuring compliance with safety and regulatory requirements.

Primary responsibilities will include but not be limited to:

  • Project Coordination, Electrical Design and Construction Support:

  • Manage electrical engineering design and construction projects.

  • Conduct meetings with system owners (requestors) and contractors to review requirements and ensure project objectives are met.

  • Prepare electrical engineering design documents, including floor plans, single-line diagrams, and panel schedules.

  • Solicit quotations from electrical contractors and manage construction activities, including contractor training and answering RFIs (Requests for Information).

  • Coordinate project timelines and shutdown activities (including Lockout/Tagout - LOTO procedures) to minimize production downtime.

  • Prepare and submit as-built drawings per as-built conditions to Engineering Resource Group (ERG) and ensure the technical accuracy of all project documentation.

  • Manage all CAD drawings for each project, ensuring they are up to date and meet internal standards (Lead sheets).

  • Markup panel schedules as per the project specifications and submit redline to ERG to update and upload to GECMS for review and approval.

  • Ensure that the right Electrical Master Specification (EMS) and Electrical Design Specification (EDS) are included and properly documented for each project.

  • Independent Work and Problem Solving:

  • Work independently with little direction, taking ownership of projects and troubleshooting electrical issues that arise during design and construction phases.

  • Demonstrate strong problem-solving abilities to resolve complex electrical issues on-site and ensure smooth project execution.

  • Documentation and Compliance:

  • Ensure all electrical drawings and design documents are prepared and maintained to meet industry standards, regulatory requirements, and site internal requirements.

  • Review and ensure all electrical engineering documents are up to standard and technically accurate, including designs for electrical systems, panels, and control systems.

  • Ensure all work complies with pharmaceutical industry regulations and safety standards, including GMP (Good Manufacturing Practices).

  • Collaboration with Cross-functional Teams:

  • Collaborate with internal teams, including project managers, mechanical engineers, and quality control personnel, to ensure all electrical systems are integrated smoothly with other building systems.

  • Communicate effectively with contractors and vendors to ensure electrical installations are completed on time and within budget.

  • Continuous Improvement:

  • Contribute to the improvement of electrical systems, processes, and tools used within the company.

  • Stay up to date on industry trends, innovative technologies, and electrical engineering standards to implement best practices.

Ideal Background

Education: Bachelor or Master of Science degree in Electrical Engineering from an accredited university is required.

Registration: Professional Engineering registration is highly preferred.

Experience: This position requires 5+ years of relevant industrial experience in electrical engineering design, construction, and onsite support, preferably in a pharmaceutical or industrial setting.

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Strong verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to effectively collaborate with both internal and external stakeholders.

  • Proven ability to work independently, with a strong sense of initiative and self-direction.

  • Strong problem-solving skills, with the ability to troubleshoot complex electrical systems and resolve issues quickly.

  • Experience with creating detailed engineering design documents (e.g., floor plans, single-line diagrams, panel schedules). Experience with CAD software is preferred but not required.

  • Familiarity with pharmaceutical industry regulations (GMP, FDA) and safety standards.

  • Experience with Lockout/Tagout (LOTO) procedures, electrical safety, and system shutdown coordination.

  • Proficient in managing and updating electrical documentation and drawings, ensuring they meet internal and external standards.
