Transylvania Vocational Services Maintenance Facility Technician in Brevard, North Carolina
This position works Monday-Friday from 8am-4:30pm.
CORE COMPETENCIES:
Ability to provide mechanically biased services in order to minimize downtime and maintain equipment and facility to an acceptable standard.
Ability to recognize and fulfill production needs while being mindful of safety, hygiene and regulatory requirements.
Experience in recognizing gaps in equipment performance, troubleshoot, analyze, draw conclusions, and make necessary modifications and/or repairs.
Possess a self-motivated and proactive attitude, adjust quickly to change, and be equally competent following instruction and being part of a multi-faceted team.
ESSENTIAL REQUIREMENTS:
Assist in all activities relating to maintenance, including but not limited to, break downs, re-builds, modifications, and start-ups for equipment and facility.
Operation of equipment to meet production targets focusing on the throughput, efficiency, quality, safety, and regulatory requirements.
Complete preventative maintenance requirements.
Support subcontractors performing modifications and repairs on existing equipment as well as the implementation of any new equipment.
Support and assist in equipment and facility sanitation tasks.
Support and assist Maintenance Manager in overall facility operations systems.
Provide input and make recommendations to Maintenance Manager for process improvements regarding equipment and overall facility operations systems.
Comply with all regulatory requirements.
Individually and collectively responsible for tools, parts, and supplies to minimize equipment downtime, maximize efficiency, an efficient utilization of resources.
Individually and collectively responsible for maintenance shop upkeep to ensure safe working conditions, regulatory compliance, and appropriate care for company assets.
Maintain current certifications/licenses for all necessary equipment as applicable.
Possess the physical ability to stand for an entire shift, lift and carry up to 60 pounds, squat, bend, twist, lift, perform manual dexterity functions, and have the visual acuity for proper equipment quality assessments.
Change out all filters on HVAC units at all locations. Keep complete records of all filter changes up to date. Inspect all HVAC units and keep records up to date.
Inspect all company vehicles at all locations. Keep complete records up to date.
Keep up with all vehicle maintenance: Oil changes, tire rotation, all other fluids, brakes, travel kits and tags. Keep complete records of all vehicles up to date.
Empty dust collectors at the plant, #1 and #2 every Friday.
Inspect fire alarms and carbon monoxide detectors at all group homes. Keep complete records up to date.
Inspect all group homes for maintenance issues. Keep complete records up to date.
Inspect fork lift batteries monthly. Keep complete records up to date.
Inspect all ladders at all locations. Keep complete records up to date.
Basic working knowledge of plumbing, electrical, framing, and drywall installation and repair.
QUALIFICATIONS:
High School Diploma plus five years industrial maintenance or operations experience; or a combination of education of education and experience.
Have and maintain a valid driver’s license.
Possess a clean driving record.
