The Opportunity:
Reporting to the Senior Commercial Manager, the Commercial Manager is a key player in supporting the Australia Defence & Security Solutions ( ADSS) Commercial Function and driving project success. This senior role involves taking charge of all commercial and contractual aspects, working with both internal teams and external stakeholders to tackle complex challenges and juggle multiple major tasks at once.
You’ll need expectational experience with ASDEFCON, bids, and negotiations to thrive in this role. This is a hands-on position for a savvy commercial professional who thrives on solving problems and delivering value in a dynamic environment.
The key responsibilities of the role, but is not limited to:
Help develop, negotiate, review, and manage contracts to minimise risks and maximise opportunities.
Handle client concerns quickly and effectively.
Lead negotiations on subcontracts and purchase orders, ensuring they address risks, include proper flow-downs, and align with compensation terms.
Create and manage subcontracts to meet project and organisational standards.
Oversee the commercial side of contracts for various projects, ensuring compliance and alignment with requirements.
Use your expertise to solve tricky problems in commercial and procurement areas.
Identify and manage project commercial risks, ensuring alignment with internal policies (e.g., finance, insurance, compliance, and procurement).
Work closely with different teams across the business to ensure projects are supported and issues are addressed.
As the ideal candidate you will bring:
Essential:
Active AGSVA security clearance
Bachelor’s degree in Business, Law or Finance or demonstrated relevant professional experience
10+ years of experience in Defence and Government commercial management or procurement
Demonstrated experience in negotiation and support
Well-developed communication skills
Experienced user of MS Office products.
