Your role and responsibilities
We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced SAP Plant Maintenance (PM) Functional Lead with a strong background in the mining industry. This role will lead the design, implementation, and optimization of SAP PM solutions, ensuring alignment with business processes and maintenance strategies. The successful candidate will play a pivotal role in improving asset management, maintenance planning, and operational efficiency through the SAP PM module.
· Lead the SAP Plant Maintenance (PM) module implementation and enhancement initiatives, ensuring seamless integration with other SAP modules such as SAP MM, SAP FICO, and SAP SD.
· Act as the primary subject matter expert (SME) for SAP PM, providing leadership and guidance in all aspects of the SAP PM module, including preventive maintenance, work order management, asset management, and reporting.
· Collaborate with business stakeholders, operations teams, and IT teams to gather requirements, define project scope, and design functional solutions that align with business objectives.
· Lead the configuration and customization of SAP PM functionalities to optimize maintenance processes and improve asset lifecycle management.
· Oversee and manage the development of business processes, workflows, and system configurations within SAP PM to ensure they meet industry standards and operational needs.
· Mentor and manage a team of SAP PM consultants and functional team members, ensuring high-quality deliverables and effective teamwork.
· Drive continuous improvements by identifying opportunities to enhance SAP PM processes, workflows, and user experiences, optimizing system efficiency and functionality.
· Ensure data integrity and the effective use of master data related to equipment, functional locations, and maintenance plans in SAP PM.
· Support system upgrades, patches, and new releases, coordinating testing, training, and documentation to minimize disruption to operations.
· Create and maintain comprehensive documentation, including functional specifications, configuration guides, and training materials, to ensure ongoing support and knowledge transfer.
· Provide post-implementation support, including troubleshooting system issues, providing user support, and driving user training initiatives.
Required technical and professional expertise
· Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Information Technology, Business Administration, or a related field.
· At least 12 years of experience in SAP Plant Maintenance (PM) with a strong understanding of plant maintenance, asset management, and operations.
· Minimum 5 years of experience in a leadership role in SAP PM, overseeing the functional design, implementation, and optimization of SAP PM systems.
· In-depth knowledge of SAP PM configurations, including preventive maintenance, breakdown maintenance, work order management, and integration with other SAP modules (SAP MM, SAP FICO, SAP SD).
· Strong experience in leading cross-functional teams, managing SAP projects, and coordinating with business stakeholders.
· Proven ability to gather and analyze business requirements and translate them into effective SAP PM solutions.
· Excellent communication skills, with the ability to clearly explain technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders and lead training sessions.
· Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
Preferred technical and professional experience
· SAP certification in Plant Maintenance (PM) or related SAP modules.
· Experience with SAP ECC or SAP S/4HANA and SAP Fiori.
· Familiarity with the mining industry’s specific challenges related to maintenance, equipment reliability, and asset management.
· Experience with project management and working with cross-functional teams to deliver complex SAP solutions.
· Knowledge of mining-specific equipment and machinery and how these interact with SAP PM processes.
