About the opportunity
Nuclear Power Programmes are delivering client critical works to some of our major UK and European Projects. Our embedded teams are delivering support to Hinkley Point C (New build power station in the South West), Sizewell C (located in the South East), helping develop technologies in SMR (Small modular Reactor) capability and working towards building Poland's first Nuclear Power station.
Working in both client facing and internal roles we are delivering major programme and project management capabilities throughout the project lifecycle. We are driving to deliver safe, high quality and to time solutions by thinking innovatively and working collaboratively.
Amentum are currently recruiting a HVAC Systems Engineer who will report to the Design Delivery Branch (DDB) HVAC Manager as part of the DDB HVAC Team for the management and surveillance of all HVAC Systems Engineering activities for HPC. Key responsibilities will be:
Technical review of drawings, reports, schematics and designs of HVAC systems for the HPC ancillary buildings
Support the delivery of HVAC system design package activities to ensure systems are delivered safely on time, to budget, meeting business and technical requirements
Supporting and optimising the review & surveillance of the Contractor delivery of the Ancillary Buildings HVAC systems
Address technical queries raised by team members, contractors, and suppliers
Supporting organisational learning, helping in the identification, understanding and the effective resolution of events
Technical authoring for related systems manuals
Identify risks and open points and have an appropriate mitigation plan in place. Ensure that delivery of approved solution is conducted
Liaison with other NNB teams: Commissioning, MEH, Security, Building Project Managers, interface coordination with key stakeholders and attend meetings with Responsible Designer, stakeholders and contractors when required
Relevant higher education or time served equivalence, in a suitable engineering discipline (Mechanical / Building Services Engineering)
3 years’ experience post-graduation
Experience of the design, specification, and construction of HVAC systems within a process or nuclear environment
Experience of preparing technical designs and submissions and experience of critically reviewing and appraising engineering documentation/specifications within a complex programme environment
Technical writing ability with experience in the preparation of reports, specifications & presentations
Experience of working within a project reference configuration environment and authoring design change modifications
Demonstrable understanding of EU / UK design codes and standards
