New York City Public Schools (NYCPS) and the City University of New York (CUNY) are partnering to ensure that 6th – 10th grade students will be exposed to college-going culture and will have the opportunity to visit a college campus. CUNY believes that early exposure to college culture will set the foundation for success in high school, college and career.
Reporting to the campus administrator (College Now Director), the CUNY Explorer Campus Field Coordinator will support the development, implementation, and oversight of the initiative at the campus. Visit guides are undergraduate students who will be recruited, hired and trained to provide an educational experience for the cohorts of visiting 6th – 10th graders and the school chaperones.
Responsibilities include:
• In conjunction with the CUNY Central Office program team and NYCPS staff, arrange school visits and work with campus and University offices to provide effective interactive program activities.
• Recruit and supervise CUNY students to serve as Visit Guides on CUNY campuses.
• Monitor and maintain an online scheduling system that will allow schools to select a visit date and provide all relevant contact information; follow up with schools as needed to ensure a successful visit.
• Implement an orientation, training and ongoing professional and leadership development for Visit Guides.
• Coordinate the program’s administrative and operational activities, including processing payroll for Visit Guides.
• Under the supervision of the campus administrator, liaise with relevant college departments with regard to program logistics (space, student meals, workshop leaders, campus security, etc.).
• Collect and retain data for report outcomes to relevant college leaders.
• Maintain a database of staff and school information; document and submit to Central Office summaries of visits and observations.
• Participate in University-wide meetings as needed.
• Support related administrative functions in the host department.
QUALIFICATIONS
Bachelor's Degree required.
Bilingual, Spanish/English preferred.
• Experience evaluating performance and analyzing data/metrics preferred.
• Ability to perform successfully in a multi-faceted, fast-paced, time-sensitive, and demanding student-focused and responsive operation serving both internal and external constituents.
• Strong verbal and interpersonal communication skills to work and interact effectively, collaboratively, and cooperatively with a diverse community of students, faculty, staff and external constituents in a large centralized public university system.
• Detail oriented with strong presentation and group facilitation skills.
• Computer proficiency using standard office software programs/applications.
• Knowledge of high school and college academic skills and requirements preferred.
• Understanding of high school and college support services and administrative processes preferred
• Ability to listen and respond effectively to stakeholders’ concerns and interests
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team
CUNY TITLE OVERVIEW
Provides basic operational and analytical support related to a College's specialized academic program.
Supports the directors and managers with orientation preparation, student advisement regarding program requirements, and providing basic information about financial aid and registration
Manages office records including faculty files; prepares reports and surveys; collects and maintains statistical data on program activities
Serves as liaison to various College offices to provide service delivery and appropriate referrals to students
Collects and reviews syllabi to ensure compliance with standards
Serves as resource person for students and faculty regarding program policies and procedures
May supervise office operations and/or monitor department budget
Performs related duties as assigned.

Salary commensurate with education and experience, $51,781
