Apply and develop your clinical assessment, evaluation, and individual and family therapy skills.
Utilize a strengths-based and trauma-informed practice to help children and youth identify their strengths and needs.
Training and opportunity for skill development in trauma-informed, evidence-based/informed treatment models.
Demonstrate an inclusive practice both in the office and in the field to support a diverse and accepting culture.
Contribute to a multidisciplinary team that shares your passion for children and families.
Demonstrate your areas of clinical strength by implementing a variety of therapeutic interventions/modalities in your practice.
Provide individual therapy and group counseling to children and youth
Carry a caseload of approximately 18 youth, ages range from 3-21 years
Administer required behavioral and mental health assessments for youth
Complete timely intake assessments and treatment plans.
Coordinate services for each youth in conjunction with case manager
Provide therapy during traditional and non-traditional hours including weekends and evenings
Attend weekly clinical team meetings
Provide record keeping and documentation for all clinical activities (case documentation and progress notes for billing)
Perform other duties as assigned by supervisor, program and organization leadership, as needed
Regular hours entail 10:00am-6:00pm Monday - Friday
Must be flexible
Evenings and weekends are required
Participate in 24 hour on-call phone availability for program youth and foster parents
License in Social Work, Marriage and Family Therapy, Creative Arts Therapy, Mental Health Counseling, or in possession of a Master’s degree in one of these areas with a limited permit to practice under qualified supervisor
One year of postgraduate direct service delivery experience preferred
Experience with a strength-based, cognitive behavioral, and trauma-informed approach to treating youth exposed to and affected by trauma
Strong proficiency with completing the administrative components of treatment (case documentation) required.
Ability to handle confidential material in a responsible manner
Ability to work well with people from many cultures including recent immigrants, non-English speakers, and LGBTQ children
Bi-lingual - English-Spanish preferred. All agency documents and records are in English, so English writing proficiency required.
Valid NYS Driver’s License preferred
Ability to travel to other agency locations
Word processing: Including drafting and responding to e-mails, writing progress notes, etc. This may involve sitting at a computer for several hours a day
Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds
Sit/ride in vehicles, busses, subways, trains, plains - public transportation for lengthy periods of time
Walk up/down stairs, several blocks and to enter/exit subway and other public transportation
120 hours of vacation time; 12 Sick days per year
