Insight Global Protective Relay Application Engineer in Bronx, New York

Looking for Associate, Mid, and Senior Protective Relay Application Engineer's to support in the design, development and implementation of various microprocessor relay upgrade projects and provide proper guidance at various levels to ensure continuous reliable operations. As a Relay Protection Engineer, you will craft and execute projects aimed at enhancing microprocessor relays. This role is integral to ensuring the consistent functionality of these systems, demanding vigilant oversight. You will travel to field sites, aiding in troubleshooting during system disruptions and investigations into automated processes, and work under the Protective System and Testing Section Manager, to provide bench testing on new microprocessor-based relay upgrades. In addition to testing, an understanding of the NERC CIP Cyber Security Standards will be required since passwords, and configuration change management tool need to be utilized. You will ensure NERC CIP password requirements & configurations are met during commissioning of new relay systems.

Additionally, the Senior Engineer will be required to lead training initiatives and professional development of both mid and associate level engineers, with the development of operational and maintenance testing instructions for relays, as well as written evaluation of system disturbances to submit Engineering Service Requests accordingly. Looking for an individual who can act as a technical liaison between various groups to develop test plans and capital project justifications, as well as understand best practices for continuous improvement and reliable methods. Must review engineering design concepts for relays, establish sustainable alignment with NERC CIP requirements, and ensure compliance of microprocessor relays with CIP standards. Strong verbal and written communication skills are essential for effective collaboration and project execution.

Skills and Requirements

2+ years' experience in relay protection or substation system testing

Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering

Experience in relay protection systems, power systems, or microprocessor based relays.

Understanding of IEC 61850 protection schemes.

Utilities or Manufacturing industry experience

Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite

Familiarity with North American Electric reliability Corporation (NERC) CIP Standards.

Active Driver's License

Ability to work onsite 5 days/week in Bronx, NY Master's Degree in Electrical Engineering null
