New York University Industry Assistant Professor or Industry Associate Professor in Brooklyn, New York

The Center for Urban Science and Progress (CUSP) at NYU Tandon School of Engineering (https://engineering.nyu.edu/research-innovation/centers/cusp) invites applications for full-time, non-tenured, renewable faculty at the rank of Industry Assistant/Associate Professor, with the earliest start date of January 15, 2025.

CUSP is a dynamic research and academic hub dedicated to advancing data-driven solutions for the challenges facing modern cities. We are seeking candidates with expertise in urban science to contribute to the training of graduate students in CUSP’s M.S. on Applied Urban Science and Informatics. We encourage applications from candidates with multi- or transdisciplinary academic backgrounds and interests in artificial intelligence, civic analytics, computational methods, data-informed decision modeling, data visualization, management, machine learning, and policy and governance. The position focuses on leveraging and bringing these fields to the classroom to address urban challenges, including sustainability, resilient infrastructure, social injustice, and global disruptions, such as pandemics or natural disasters. Ideal candidates will contribute to CUSP’s mission of combining innovation, technology, and science to create impactful, scalable outcomes for both public good and private sector growth, including entrepreneurial opportunities that drive innovative solutions.

Candidates should have a Ph.D. in a relevant field (e.g., degrees in engineering, computer science, architecture, geography, business, economics, and the social sciences with a focus on urban science), with a strong record of academic, industry, or public-sector experience, technical innovation, and/or scholarship in CUSP’s areas of focus. Candidates are expected to have a strong record of excellence in teaching and mentorship at all levels, from introductory to advanced studies.

Additional Information

In compliance with NYC’s Pay Transparency Act, the annual (9 month) base salary range for this position is $85,000-$125,000 for the Industry Assistant Professor rank and $100,000-$150,000 for the Industry Associate Professor rank. New York University considers factors such as (but not limited to) the scope and responsibilities of the position, candidate’s work experience, education/training, key skills, internal peer equity, as well as market and organizational considerations when extending an offer.
