Bridging Access to Care Maintenance Worker in Brooklyn, New York

Brooklyn Aids Task Force was the very first HIV/AIDS organization in Brooklyn prioritizing serving persons living with HIV/AIDS (PLWHA) since 1986. Today, BAC provides mental health and substance use-related social services, comprehensive HIV/AIDS care, and coordinated health care and supportive services to under-served racial and ethnic minority communities in the Brooklyn and other parts of New York City. JOB SUMMARY: Provides maintenance including repairs and housekeeping services at all BAC sites and Vehicles. Must be able to work in extreme weather conditions, with or without accommodation.

WORK EXPERIENCES: Minimum 2 years of facilities maintenance or relevant experience required.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Perform cleaning activities such high-touched surfaces such as counters, tabletops, doorknobs, handles, bathroom fixtures, toilets, elevator buttons, etc. in the workplace to reduce the spread of COVID-19. Responsible for cleaning tasks in all offices, such as dusting, sweeping, mopping, waxing floors, and vacuuming. Clean and sanitize bathrooms thoroughly. Refill office supplies, such as copying paper, toilet paper and paper towel. Collect and dispose of trash. Keep kitchen work surfaces sanitized, replenish supplies (i.e. utensils, K-Cups, etc.) clean refrigerators and microwaves. Completes minor plumbing repairs and changes lights. Responsible for the maintenance and condition of storage room. Maintains front of building by removing all trash and debris. Responsible for snow removal. Deliver and distribute staff mail and supplies. Performs repairs as necessary (i.e. locks, doors, knobs, furniture, painting,etc). Assess and determines the condition of all equipment and machinery used for delivery, fixing and reports to Director of Operations on what needs to be repaired or replaced. Assembles all new or replacement furniture for staff. Maintain a clean driving record and adheres strictly to all policies and procedures related to being designated as a BAC Driver and manages the maintenance of the BAC vehicles and ensures its cleanliness. Driver for testing mobile units to destinations throughout the city and picking up and dropping off BAC vehicles. Maintain service Schedules for all BAC vehicles and determines condition of BAC vehicles by inspection before and after use. Deliver supplies to destination by driving the vehicle to and from all agency sites and facilitates distribution. Assist with clients move-ins and relocations. Perform heavy duty cleaning and sanitation of newly acquired and newly vacant apartments within the supportive housing program. Processes Maintenance Request. Perform other related duties as assigned based on program needs.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES: Strong interpersonal and communication skills. Ability to identify work without direct supervision. Problem- solving skills, and ability to think and react within a reasonable time frame. Excellent time management skills: ability to multitask and maintain schedules while responding to incidents. Productivity and the ability to work independently with minimal supervision. Knowledge of health and safety standards and the ability to handle cleaning chemicals safely. Skills level to perform repairs, change locks, etc. Ability to lift 80 pounds regularly with or without accommodations. A valid drivers license with a two-year clean driving record is a must.
