COMPENSATION

Salary Range:

Mechanical Engineer I (TA) Min. $87,701-$110,444

Mechanical Engineer II (TA) Min. $104,266-$125,964

Mechanical Engineer III (TA) Min.$116,636-$137,501

RESPONSIBILITIES:

This position will include a variety of tasks including but not limited to contract management of maintenance and repair contracts, research assignments, budget analysis, processing payments of invoices, project planning, work schedule review/coordination and monitoring of vendor performance. This work will also include on-site inspections of facilities to ensure contractor compliance with project/contract specifications/procedures. Contracts may include plumbing/boiler repairs, emergency generators, fuel tank repairs/monitoring, fire suppression sprinkler systems, repairs of steel roll-up doors, along with a variety of other contracts.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE :

A valid New York State Professional Engineers License and four (4) years of full ‐ time

experience in mechanical engineering

A masters degree in mechanical engineering from an accredited college will be accepted as equivalent to one year of the full ‐ time experience in mechanical engineering.

DESIRED SKILLS:

  • Experience in one or more of the following areas: contract/facilities management; fire safety systems; mechanical/electrical equipment for buildings and facilities.

  • Firm understanding of project coordination to minimize impact on both public and transit operations. Ability to coordinate between various NYCT divisions along with New York City and State Agencies.

  • Familiarity with NYC Transit operations, procurement practices/procedures, purchasing options and knowledge of budget process along with construction techniques and methodologies.

  • Excellent oral, written and organization skills, ability to work independently and as part of a team is essential.
