The Boston Consulting Group, Inc. Principal Engineer (Multiple Positions) in Brooklyn, New York

Principal Engineer (The Boston Consulting Group, Inc. - Brooklyn, NY) - Oversee all aspects of the Engineering organization, including defining technical strategies and technology blueprints as well as hiring and retaining talent. Specific duties include: act as a coach and advisor to the engineering team; define and manage the technology landscape and blueprint for entire solution stacks; work closely with lead engineers and architects to co-own architecture and component strategies; ensure consistent best practices, processes, and procedures for software development, quality assurance, and maintenance; lead the organization’s strategic planning process and coordinate with Product Development teams to align engineering and business priorities; identify risks and opportunities for each project and provide hands-on technology leadership to engineering teams; mentor, motivate, and lead Engineering teams; and coordinate recruiting efforts across engineering units to ensure consistency and continued excellence. Requires: Bachelor's degree (or higher) in Information Systems, Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or related field (willing to accept foreign education equivalent) plus eight (8) years of experience as an Engineer, or related occupation, responsible for partnering with cross-functional teams to design the strategic roadmap and build large-scale system architectures and/or digital products/solutions which must include at least two (2) years of experience leading cross-functional teams. Specific skills/other requirements (quantitative experience requirement not applicable to this section) - must possess the following: presenting solutions to business and technology leaders including executive level (CEO, CTO) stakeholders; performing structured thinking, problem-solving, information synthesis, and communication in the areas of software development, AI, or data science; setting technical visions and building technical product roadmaps from launch to scale; building scalable and reusable service-based architectures including APIs, serverless, and microservices frameworks, and building complex API integrations with multiple SaaS, BaaS and Legacy Enterprise service bus integrations; working with backend/platform engineering, scaling performance engineering, security, disaster recovery, and establishing product sustainability; using DevOps and cloud infrastructure services, and developing software using objected-oriented languages including Go, Node.js, or Python-Django; working with data streaming, ETL and messaging/integration platforms and frameworks including Apache Spark, Hadoop, Kafka, and/or Redshift; and developing solutions architecture and leading engineering teams in digital product development and complex enterprise system integration projects. Partial telecommute benefit available. Must report to and reside within commutable distance of the listed BCG office. Domestic/international travel required (up to 80%) based on client/company need.
