CAMBA Trauma/Crisis Intervention Coordinator, Workforce Development and Refugee Services in Brooklyn, New York

We reach more than 73,000 individuals and families, including almost 13,000 youth. CAMBA serves a diverse cross section of New Yorkers from new mothers in Brownsville to job seekers in the Rockaways. More than half of our clients are immigrants and refugees from around the globe. Over 85% of our families are in living in poverty, reflecting the challenges faced by nearly 1.7 million New Yorkers today.

The Refugee Services Programs provide resettlement and cultural adjustment support, refugee health promotion services, wellness groups, job training, placement and transitional support services to refugees and asylees during their 60 months of eligibility in the United States to help with any impediments to employment and self-sufficiency.

Position: Trauma/Crisis Intervention Coordinator

Reports To: Program Manager

Location: 2244 Church Avenue, 4th Floor, Brooklyn, NY 11226         

What The Trauma/Crisis Intervention Coordinator Does:

  • Maintain professional relationships with clients and client confidentiality.

  • Practice Universal Precautions/Standard Protocol & Procedures.

  • Comply with any and all Federal, State, City and CAMBA security and privacy polices intended to protect the security and privacy of individually identifiable health information.

  • Manage, create, develop and implement workshops and trainings on trauma informed topics including mental health first aide specific to the current refugee population.

  • Provide short-term crisis intervention counseling, de-escalation when needed via phone, zoom and/or in person.

  • Provide health education, health resources and/or referrals for clients as needed.

  • Input client data and client progress/service information into automated database.

  • Lead group counseling and psycho-education sessions to enhance social development and psychological education of individual participants and provide peer support.

  • Provide group counseling services to assist clients and their families to achieve healthy relationships, emotional stability, personal development and/or adjustment.

  • Organize onsite and offsite training opportunities for professional development of staff in Refugee.

  • Coach staff on appropriate incident response interventions.

  • Administer evaluation tests and/or assessment instruments.

  • Participate in team/staff or other agency meetings as requested.

  • Monitor and meet goals related to established service projections.

  • Provide all required information for weekly/monthly/quarterly/annual reports.

  • Provide direct client service in addition to the above.

  • Plan, coordinate and facilitate social/peer support events, including group facilitation for clients.

  • Other duties as assigned.

Minimum Education/Experience Required:

  • Bachelor's degree (B. A. or B. S.), Master’s in Social Work (MSW) preferred.

Other Requirements:

  • Three years of applicable experience.

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PPT, and Outlook).

  • Excellent written & verbal communication.

Compensation: $68,000 annually

When salary ranges are listed, the range would represent the low and high end for the applicable position & program. The salary offered would be based on various factors unique to each program and candidate. This includes but is not limited to experience, education, budget and/or program size, internal equity, skills and other factors that may be required for the position and organization.

Status: Full-time (35 hours per week)
