The Technician II performs semi-skilled, technical support research work involving performance of assignments requiring modification and adaptation to routine procedures.

What you need to know

Required Education and Experience:

  • High school diploma or equivalent combination of education and experience

  • Three years of laboratory experience or related areas

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Knowledge of laboratory equipment, scientific apparatus, and computer equipment

  • Ensure attention to detail

  • Knowledge of lab room preparation and lab techniques and safety

  • Able to multitask and work cooperatively with others

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's in Biology, Neuroscience or related field

  • Some experience in research in neuroscience or related field

  • Experience in immunohistochemistry, microscopy, behavioral analysis in mice

  • Tissue collection and processing from mice

  • Electrophysiology technique and stereotaxic surgery

Responsibilities:

Experimental Procedures and Data Collection

  • Collects samples and measurement data from experiments.

  • Implements and maintains data collection and summarization of field trials.

  • Experiments with mouse models including behavioral analysis, immunohistochemistry and molecular biology and electrophysiology.

  • Performs analysis and tests.

  • Makes and records observations and scientific measurement.

  • Extracts, collects and compiles data. Computes quantitates and extends projections.

  • Assembles and operates technical equipment.

  • Assists senior staff members in conducting major field experiments and consults in developing procedures.​

  • Performs other duties as assigned.
