The FP&A function takes ownership for the analysis, consolidation and interpretation of financial data, the coordination and management of financial reporting (including the provision of insight, analysis and the accurate and timely delivery of end market budgets, management accounts and financial accounts) and the monitoring of financial risks.

About the role

The FP&A Junior Manager is a critical member of the wider Europe Finance team. The role includes working with Finance and Marketing teams to identify spend priorities, co-ordinate setting and forecasting of large spend budgets, maintain spend field through regular budget review and drive initiatives to improve overall spend management and spend effectiveness.

Key responsibilities:

  • Providing analytical decision support, leading a principled, budget and spend performance management process for EU markets and ensuring that spend is accurately reflected in Diageo’s accounts, including:

  • Running senior in-market partners

  • Working with the market to set half yearly A&P budgets

  • Analyzing spend, including using judgement to identify trends and exceptions, root cause issues, etc.

  • Leading A&P controls and effectiveness for Brand and Customer Marketing and Corporate A&P spend

  • Leading monthly meetings with budget owners to review their A&P spends vs. plan, challenge and build, and align on O&R submissions

  • Actively working with other departments to provide business partner support, i.e., Coupa, Anaplan, etc.

  • Preparing materials for and supporting regular BPM reviews with budget owners, including actuals vs. plan review and O&R development and submission

  • Providing direction on accounting requirements

  • Promoting and ensuring a sound controls & compliance environment, both in the market and in the Financial Control team

  • Driving operational improvements and efficiencies

  • Over-viewing the O&R and Closing processes from A&P standpoint

  • Independently setting agenda and supervises work priorities

  • Leading, handling and aligning in-market partners from several functions, including Senior market leadership

  • Owning spend management process end-to-end

  • Supporting regular business performance management reviews and meetings to resolve ad-hoc issues with the in-market Executive team, Budget Owners and other shared services teams.

  • Streamlining processes and making sure the different global or local initiatives are implemented correctly

About you

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Finance Accounting

  • Minimum 4-6 years' experience in Financial Accounting, Financial Controlling or FP&A, ideally in a multinational environment

  • Excellent verbal and written English and strong communication skills

  • Proven experience with SAP FI /CO modules

  • Strong Excel knowledge

  • Excellent problem solving and analytical skills

  • Hard working, flexible, inquisitive, proactive

  • Strong business partnering skills (ability to build relationships, earn trust, influence, hold the tension when required)

  • Strong strategic thinking skills and ability to lead a change agenda, tackle sophisticated issues and re-engineer processes

It is an asset if you have the following experience:

  • Previous experience in a business partnering role

  • Internal / external audit experience and/or SOX

  • Experience with Shared services process activities

  • PowerBI and Anaplan experience
