What You Will Do

Oversee the quality control function on the complete range of natural gas distribution installation work done by contracted crews. The inspector performs their work as a representative of the utility and is expected to establish and maintain a professional working relationship with all 3rd party contractors, vendors, and company personnel. The inspector does not supervise or direct the contractors work but provides quality assurance through the inspection of work and materials in compliance with conformance requirements. The inspector is empowered with Stop Work Authority and is responsible for maintaining a safe work site.

What You Will Earn

Starting Pay rate is $42 and UP based on experience.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

• Successfully complete classroom and hands-on training for the Northeast Gas Association and additional contractor specs.
• Inspect crews joining plastic pipes and fittings using heat fusion or mechanical methods.
• Inspections of padding and shading material.
• Logging Fusions
• Recording and manually mapping assets / as-built construction drawings

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Attitude

1. Northeast Gas Association Operator Qualifications covering the inspecting and installation of natural gas distribution systems.
2. Valid driver's license in the applicable state of employment
3. Must be able to work overtime when duties cannot be performed within a normal work schedule
4. 1 year of natural gas construction inspection experience is preferred, not required.
5. 5 years combined experience in utility inspections, pressure testing, plastic pipe fusions, coating inspections, pipeline monitoring, natural gas distribution crew lead/foreman, and municipality distribution crew lead/foreman.
6. Excellent communication skills.

Physical Requirements

• While performing the duties of this job, employees regularly:
• Drive 50 to 200+ miles daily as required by the assigned geographic locating area
• Stand and walk lengthy distances (1+ miles)
• Work outdoors in all weather conditions
