Actalent Parts Quality Engineer in Burlington, North Carolina

Job Title: Parts Quality EngineerJob Description

We are seeking a dedicated Parts Quality Engineer to support supplier and in-house manufacturing activities related to quality assurance. The role involves ensuring compliance with design criteria, quality standards, and production requirements for parts and equipment used in the manufacturing of aircraft engine components.

Responsibilities

  • Provide supplier support and in-house manufacturing support for quality-related activities.

  • Review completed product final inspection sheets and special process documentation for acceptability.

  • Support non-conforming part related investigations (NCMR) and review with engineering.

  • Assist with corrective action and preventative action both internally and with the supply base.

  • Support design change investigations for manufacturing and supplier-related activities.

  • Review processes (Routers, FMEA, operation standards, process control sheets, and all other control documentation) to ensure design requirements have been met.

  • Lead supplier audits (when certified) to AS9100 and specific customer requirements.

Essential Skills

  • Work instruction and manufacturing process knowledge.

  • Root cause analysis and CMM inspection.

  • Experience with non-conforming parts.

  • Corrective and Preventive Actions.

  • Change Investigations.

  • FMEAs.

  • Proficiency in AS9100 standards.

  • Ability to communicate using pictures and data, especially for collaboration with the design team in Japan.

  • Problem-solving and decision-making skills.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering (Mechanical, Electrical, Aerospace, etc.) or related Associates degree with experience.

  • Three years of experience in a manufacturing quality role, or seven years without a BS degree.

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).

  • Experience with CAD/CATIA and working knowledge of gauging, calibration, GD&T, and CMM.

  • Experience in product nonconformance dispositions (MRB) and product First Article review and approval is a plus.

  • Knowledge of AS9100 Quality Standard requirements.

Work Environment

The position is based in a climate-controlled office environment. However, it will require exposure to manufacturing areas where personal protective equipment such as safety glasses with side shields, hearing protection, and safety shoes are necessary. Travel requirements are less than 15%.
