We are looking for a Regional Head of Product Development to join our Agricultural Solutions team in Vegetable Seeds. This is a remote US role, ideally based in California, but open to other US locations.

As a Regional Head of Product Development, you will lead and coach a customer-focused Product Development organization in the region, ensuring the implementation of crop strategies. You will facilitate effective communication with Breeding and Marketing & Sales to support successful product introductions and enhance customer satisfaction. Your responsibilities will include optimizing processes for data-driven variety evaluations in pre-commercial and commercial trials, and building an organization that excels in decision-making, digitalization, and innovation in the region.

As a Regional Head of Product Development - Vegetable Seeds, you create chemistry by...

  • Driving the effort towards excellence and digitalization of PD in the region.

  • Acting as a functional link with other departments in the region (M&S, R&D, Operations, IT, Digital Farming, others).

  • Ensuring the PD policies, procedures, systems, and tools are aligned across crops and with the other divisions and properly implemented in the region (e.g., Elevations, Trial Plan, IP protection, trial agreements, Trial seed planning).

  • Designing and organizing the training for PD and fostering the exchange of best practices among crops, creating the regional PD community.

  • Managing people within the PD organization: hiring, performance, development, career planning, coaching.

  • Budgeting, allocating, and implementing PD resources to support the crop strategies, and optimizing the quality and efficiency of PD resources.

If you...

  • Have a BSc in Agriculture/Agronomy or equivalent education; MSc preferred.

  • Bring 10+ years of experience in vegetable seeds industry

  • Have 5+ years of product development experience

  • Hold 5+ years of managerial experience.

  • Exhibit strong leadership and coaching skills, with experience in leading virtual teams.

  • Have experience in Breeding (a plus).

  • Hold experience in Marketing and Sales, as well as Digitalization (a plus).

  • Demonstrate change management experience (preferred).

  • Show fluency in English and Spanish (preferred).

  • Ability to travel 30-40%, domestic and some international travel.

Pay transparency

BASF is committed to pay transparency practices. The competitive Pay Range for this role is $134,400 - $184,800. Actual pay will be determined based on education, certifications, experience, and other job-related factors permitted by law.
