DIRECTOR OF STUDENT FINANCIAL COUNSELING, Student Financial Services (SFS), in the Office of the Vice Chancellor (OVC) will oversee the SFS counseling team, 12 members, providing guidance, mentorship and direction to staff; advise on the annual financial aid application and awarding cycle, providing oversight and strategic direction to the customer service team and guiding the development and communication of a financial wellness curriculum for students; report to the Director of SFS and create a solid integrated service, including Financial Aid, Customer Service (financial aid and student accounts) and Financial Education functions, ensuring access and affordability for MIT students and their families; and work in close collaboration with the Director of Student Financial Operations and Director of Student Financial Services, ensuring seamless work flow and staff engagement.

Job Requirements

REQUIRED: Bachelor's degree with a minimum of eight years of progressive student financial services experience at a higher education institution; proven experience supervising a diverse and talented staff; interest and aptitude for technology and proficiency at mastering new information systems; an analytical thinker with a solid bias for action that is able to analyze and interpret complex and multi-faceted situations; proven history of working well in a collaborative role in a highly matrixed management environment; ability to take full ownership for driving projects; ability to manage resources efficiently, effectively delegate and prioritize; unwavering commitment to serving a diverse customer base, to continuous process improvement and to ensuring access and affordability for MIT students and families; and excellent collaboration, communication and presentation skills. PREFERRED: Expert knowledge of financial aid file review, eligibility determination and/or student account payments, and student financial services related systems (ex. PowerFAIDS, Banner, TouchNet). Salary range: $120,000 - 150,000

A hybrid schedule, with both remote and on-campus work, is available.
