The Intelligent Software and Systems (ISS) business unit of RTX BBN Technologies (BBN) seeks a creative, organized, people-centered candidate to fill the role of Program Manager (PM). This role will involve significant interaction with our technical staff on multiple projects, while engaging and mentoring less experienced staff. As a PM, you will lead the planning, coordination, and execution of software development projects within our organization. You will advise and collaborate with the technical staff on customer interactions and will be responsible for monitoring spending, staffing, contract schedule and deliverables. You will gain knowledge of the technical work and innovative research being performed, while helping the team to stay on task and on budget.

What You Will Do

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

The ideal candidate will be organized and detail-oriented with the ability to efficiently handle complex program management issues while helping researchers focus on the technical work to be achieved and the big picture of their efforts.

Qualifications You Must Have:

  • B.S. degree in a technical field or business management or administration, with minimum of 8 years or more experience as Program Manager, or an advanced degree with 5 years of program management experience

  • Experience managing software development projects, including cross-functional teams and multiple stakeholders

  • Experience in managing Government-funded contracts

  • Experience with managing subcontractors and consultants

  • Experience as a people leader, organizer, and motivator, including experience managing multiple direct reports

  • Experience with financial tracking, including the use of MS Excel

  • Experience coordinating actions across various business functions (e.g. Contracting, Finance, Billing, Business Development)

  • Expertise in creating and delivering technical documents and presentations using Microsoft Word and PowerPoint to senior management, partner organizations, and sponsors

  • Position requires US citizenship with ability and willingness to obtain a US Government Security Clearance

  • Experience managing multiple, simultaneous programs while delivering successful results on time and on budget

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills

  • Demonstrated success with task planning, staffing, and tracking of multiple projects with multiple personnel simultaneously

  • Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to manage complex technical issues

  • Strong technical background with an understanding of software engineering processes, technologies, and tools

  • Strong financial skills, including forecasting and budgeting

  • Experience in understanding and implementing Government compliance processes such as export/import control

  • Experience writing proposals to secure funding for executing technical programs for various branches/offices of the US Government.

The salary range for this role is 112,000 USD - 224,000 USD. The salary range provided is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels. RTX considers several factors when extending an offer, including but not limited to, the role, function and associated responsibilities, a candidate’s work experience, location, education/training, and key skills.

Payments under these annual programs are not guaranteed and are dependent upon a variety of factors including, but not limited to, individual performance, business unit performance, and/or the company’s performance.

This role is a U.S.-based role. If the successful candidate resides in a U.S. territory, the appropriate pay structure and benefits will apply.
