Skyline Vision Optometric Technician or Medical Assistant in Canon City, Colorado
POSITION: Optometric Technician or Medical Assistant
DUTIES: * Follows established departmental policies and procedures, objectives, OSHA Rules and Regulations, environmental and infection control standards. * Fields patient phone calls promptly and in a professional manner. * Assists providers and other clinical staff with examinations, procedures, and other processes related to direct patient care. * Prepares patient for scheduled procedures. * Obtain complete patient histories including chief complaint, past ocular/medical history, family medical/ocular history and history of allergies and medications and ensure accuracy and proper documentation in the patient's Electronic Health Record (EHR). * Perform ophthalmologic tests including visual acuity, applanation tonometry, pachymetry, visual fields, corneal topography, OCTs, lensometry, and other tests as directed within the prescribed timeline as determined by the clinic manager. * Assist with patient pre-op and post-op counseling, procedure set up, and performing in office procedures. * Calibrate diagnostic equipment per manufacturer guidelines. * Maintain and clean all equipment/ instruments. * Arranges for provider ordered diagnostics or therapeutic services. * Ensures cleanliness, adequate stock of supplies and functioning equipment in examination rooms. * Cleans and sterilizes equipment and tools. * Completes shift opening and closing procedures. * Assists all providers and other clinical staff as needed and assigned. * Completes other tasks/duties as assigned. * Will perform an extensive number of data collection functions as delegated by the provider to allow for a proper professional diagnosis of patients' conditions.
REQUIREMENTS: * High School Diploma or equivalent * Will Train
OTHER REQUIREMENTS: * Computer and typing proficiency. * Displays strong verbal/written communication and organization skills. * Ability to effectively organize resources, establish priorities, and perform multiple tasks. * Professionalism and ability to be discreet with confidential and sensitive issues. * Ability to work independently and take initiative. * Basic knowledge of medical terminology, medical equipment, HIPAA compliance, and OSHA rules and regulations. * Ability to arrive at work on a timely basis when scheduled (at least 15 minutes prior to seeing patients) and to work a varied schedule.
WAGE: * $18.00 per hour
SHIFTS: * 8 hour shift, Full-Time
