Aerotek Structural Fabricator in Carlisle, Iowa

Job Description

We are seeking a Welder/Fabricator to build and weld structural steel products such as columns, beams, and stairs according to specifications on blueprints. The ideal candidate will be adept at cutting, sizing, shaping, bending materials, tacking them into place, and welding them.

Responsibilities

  • Read and interpret blueprints

  • Review the quality of completed work

  • Ensure stairs or handles are ready for installation upon arrival at the job site

  • Cut, size, shape, and bend materials

  • Tack materials into place and weld them

Preferred Skills & Qualifications

  • 2+ years' MIG welding experience

  • Union welding experience preferred

  • Ability to read and build from structural blueprints

  • Ability to use a tape measure accurately

  • Ability to pass written Weld Test

  • Ability to pass Blueprint Test

  • AWS certification (preferred)

  • AISC Manufacturing experience (preferred)

  • Experience with different kinds of structures like huge columns, stairs, hand railings, cross frames for roofs, and components to hold overhead cranes

  • Experience with Flux welding

Work Environment

This is a 3rd shift position from Monday to Thursday, 6 PM to 6 AM, at our Carlisle, Iowa location. The fabrication shop environment can be dirty, and appropriate PPE such as jeans, a work-appropriate shirt, steel-toed boots, a weld helmet, and safety glasses are required. The team is small, consisting of 15-20 people, with plans to move to a larger site in Des Moines or Carlisle. Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $22.00 - $30.00
