Tuscola ISD Chief Information Security Officer in Caro, Michigan

Responsibilities: (Other duties may be assigned.)

  • Having a high level understanding of the remc10 data center, firewall, WAN and all other technology resources.

? Responsible for implementing related best practices.

? Responsible for upgrading software, firmware, etc and/or notifying those responsible that updates are needed and providing whatever assistance is needed to implement the updates.

  • Completing/updating an annual evaluation of each participating district's LAN, firewall policies and infrastructure.

? Assist districts with evaluating their top cyber security threat vulnerabilities and with implementing solutions to resolve them.

  • Monitors and investigates real-time alerts from various products and systems.

  • Monitors MDR notifications for REMC 10 all participating districts.

? Helps to deploy MDR solution initially and as new servers are deployed.

? Makes recommendations on the selection of MDR/EDR solutions.

? Resolves and/or assists district tech staff with resolving any issues reported by the MDR/EDR systems.

  • Training

? Train participating district IT staff on the top cyber security topics.

? Conduct table top exercises including IT and Administration staff for all participating districts (centrally offered).

  • Assists districts with developing incident response plans, business continuity plans, etc, creates/modifies templates for this purpose.

  • Acts as the local expert and point person in the event of a cyber-attack or incident.

  • Actively work toward securing all REMC 10 and participating districts systems on an ongoing basis.

  • Assists with implementation of MFA wherever possible.

  • Helps configure, monitor, secure, and test backup processes.

  • Document current systems and processes and updates as needed.

  • Assist in planning and implementing security measures to protect the company's identities, computer systems, servers, services, WAN and LAN networks, and data.

  • Stay up to date on the latest security trends, vulnerabilities, news items, and communicate new findings with team members.

  • Perform vulnerability scanning for REMC 10 and all participating districts and assist with remediating risks/findings.

  • Participate in the evaluation, operation and testing of software, hardware and network security configurations.

  • Provides regular updates to the Thumb Educational Technology Professionals and REMC 10 Board.

  • Performs such other tasks as may from time to time be assigned by the supervisor.

  • Regular predictable attendance.

  • This position requires the ability to be available on-call to handle cyber security incidents at all hours.

  • This position will be housed at the Tuscola ISD campus but there will be regular travel needed to participating district locations in Huron, Sanilac, and Tuscola Counties as well as attending meetings or conferences in the state throughout the year.
