Job Description

Design, develop, troubleshoot and debug software programs for OCI's network automation team.

The individual will serve as the technical lead for team projects, contribute to roadmap development, and provide architectural guidance to scale the tools/services to support new network designs. They will mentor junior engineers, participate in operational rotations, and provide break-fix support and escalation for event remediation, including leading root cause analysis (RCA) efforts. The role includes collaborating with networking services to integrate support tooling and evolving business requirements.

The role focuses on improving availability, latency, performance, efficiency, change management, scaling, monitoring, emergency response, and capacity planning for entire services and ecosystems. Responsibilities include ownership of several small projects and services, improving operational tooling, practices, deployment processes, and mentoring team members. The individual will modify the architecture of subsystems or services to enhance reliability, availability, performance, and scale, participate in architectural design reviews, and improve pipelines, deployments, and validations across components. They will own and enhance metrics, KPIs, SLOs, and visualizations, automate operational toil, and develop complex scripts leveraging domain expertise.

The individual works independently on most projects, seeking guidance only for areas requiring experience in building and operating mission-critical systems in the cloud industry.

The Oracle Cloud Infrastructure (OCI) delivers mission-critical applications for top tier enterprises around the world. Our cloud offers unmatched hyper-scale, multi-tenant services deployed in more than 30 regions worldwide.

The mission of our Network Automation team is to provide tooling that allows our customers to design, build, scale, and operate OCI networks. Our customers want auto-remediation of incidents, touch less and automated operations such as upgrading 1000s of devices and pushing configuration changes safely, adding network capacity seamlessly. We help Oracle build the best-in-class Network Control Plane to meet our customer needs.

We are looking for software tech leadership to continue our rapid growth. This role offers a terrific opportunity to build distributed services that enable multi-cloud and hybrid-cloud applications. You should be comfortable at building complex distributed systems involving management of 1000s of devices. You should value simplicity and scale, work comfortably in a collaborative, agile environment, and be excited to learn.

Required Qualifications:

  • 10+ years of experience in software development

  • 5+ years of experience in developing large scale distributed services / applications

  • Proficiency with Java/Python/C++ and Object-Oriented programming

  • Excellent knowledge of basic data structures, search/sort algorithms

  • Experience with TCP/IP and socket programming

  • Excellent organizational, verbal, and written communication skills

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or related field

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Knowledge of cloud computing & networking technologies

  • Experience developing service-oriented systems, REST, python

  • Experience developing network automation or device management solutions

  • Experience with Jira, Confluence, BitBucket

  • Knowledge of Scrum & Agile Methodologies

  • Masters / PhD degree in Computer Science

Provide leadership and expertise in the development of new products/services/processes, frequently operating at the leading edge of technology. Recommends and justifies major changes to existing products/services/processes. BS or MS degree or equivalent experience relevant to functional area. 8 or more years of software engineering or related experience.
