Leech Lake Band of Ojibwe Tribal Planner Developer in Cass Lake, Minnesota

Division: Tribal Development Reports to: Tribal Development Director Worksite: Tribal Development Offices Cass Lake Work Hours: M-F, 8:00am 4:30pm and as needed LLBO Status: Exempt Safety Sensitive: No License/Certification Requirements: Valid MN Driver's License, current insurance or be insurable. Summary: To aid, guide, and support businesses and programs sponsored by the Leech Lake Tribal Council in the areas of economic and community development, as well as grant research and writing. Additional Qualifications and Skills: Knowledge of computer software, i.e. Microsoft. Strong computer skills. Must possess excellent written and verbal communication skills. Must have skills in public relations. Must possess strong analytical and problem-solving skills. Must possess strong organizational skills. Ability to work in both group and individual environments. Ability to represent and advocate for the Tribe's interests and needs to other governments, businesses and organizations. Pre-employment drug testing is mandatory for all Leech Lake Band of Ojibwe positions. Duties/Responsibilities: Assist the Tribal Council and its divisions in the development and advocacy of the Reservation's comprehensive social and economic development programs, plans and ventures. Responsible for initiating; research, conducting studies, developing plans and strategies for Reservation development projects. Coordinate the development of short- and long-term plans for Reservation resources, including community development, housing, transportation and infrastructure. Provide technical assistance and training to divisions and programs in planning; grant writing, reporting, and financial management. Assist programs with grant applications and submittals. Work with internal and external entities when combining resources for Band projects. Foster relationships between the Band and granting agencies. Attend and or conduct all mandatory meetings and trainings as required. Maintain confidentiality and professional ethics at all times. Travel in and out of the state on a possibly regular basis. Understanding and sensitivity to Native American culture. Adhere to policies governing staff conduct. All other related duties as assigned.
