Cedar Falls Utilities Energy Services Intern in Cedar Falls, Iowa
Overview
As a member of the Energy Services Team at Cedar Falls Utilities, the intern student will have the opportunity to work on applying academic education to assigned tasks. The intern is provided an opportunity for on-the-job training and given specific tasks to encourage learning the basic of energy services. The intern works under direction of the Energy Services Manager who exercises control over the design and productivity of the intern.
This is a paid internship, working full-time from mid May through mid August.

Responsibilities
Uses building science principles and department resources to evaluate energy efficiency options and make recommendations.
Works with other department personnel to be a technical resource for customers and contractor (residential and small/medium commercial).
Assists in advising customers on best practices in-person, on phone, or correspondence.
Performs field work within Cedar Falls city limits.
Assesses/Audits (ASHRAE Level 1 and 2) reports.
Assist in reviewing new residential and small/medium commercial buildings for compliance with applicable energy codes.
Assist with research and development projects in the department. Topics may include energy efficiency, electric vehicles, renewable energy, demand response, etc.
Qualifications
Education:
Graduation from an accredited high school, experience or field of study related to STEM.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
Technology used in this role includes: Mapping software, thermal imaging camera, multimeters (electrical) blower door, duct blaster, flow hood, manometer. ComCheck/ResCheck (building Code Compliance), HoboWare (Electric Data Loggers), Customer Service billing software(CC&B), Microsoft (Excel, Word, SharePoint), EECP platform.
Ability to operate all CFU vehicles and equipment.
Certifications/Licenses:
Must have a valid driver's license and meet CFU's insurability requirements.
Physical Tasks and Environmental Conditions:
The physical demands described here are characteristic of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of the job. The employee must occasionally lift at least 40 lbs. This job requires a moderate activity level including pushing/pulling/squatting/crouching/kneeling/bending occassionally. This job performs duties in an indorr office setting as well in the field in outdoor weather conditions.
