Aerotek Maintenance Mechanic in Cedar Rapids, Iowa

Job Title: Maintenance Mechanic

Location : Cedar Rapids, Iowa

Pay Range : $25.00 - $30.00 per hour

Shift Options :

  • 2nd Shift : 3pm to 11pm (M-F)

  • 3rd Shift : 11pm to 7am (Sun-Th)

Position Overview

We are seeking a skilled Maintenance Mechanic to ensure that production machinery operates at peak efficiency. In this role, you will perform preventative maintenance, troubleshoot, and repair various systems. You will work with a team to ensure all machinery is functioning properly, with an emphasis on safety and accuracy.

Key Responsibilities

  • Maintain and Repair Machinery : Ensure production equipment operates efficiently. Perform repairs and preventative maintenance on mechanical, pneumatic, hydraulic, electrical, and vacuum systems.

  • Troubleshooting : Diagnose issues in programmable logic controllers (PLCs), AC/DC motors, conveyors, and other key machinery.

  • Blueprints : Read and interpret blueprints and electrical diagrams to guide maintenance efforts.

  • Fabrication & Installation : Assemble, install, and fabricate equipment as needed. Welding and fabrication skills are required.

  • Steam & Boiler Control : Work with steam systems, boiler controls, and mechanical power drives.

  • Inventory and Paperwork : Assist with inventory accuracy and ensure timely submission of maintenance paperwork.

  • Safety : Participate in safety reviews, training, and audits under plant management’s guidance.

  • Training : Participate in a company-provided maintenance training program to enhance your skill set.

Essential Skills & Qualifications

  • 2+ years of industrial maintenance experience.

  • Proficiency with pneumatic, hydraulic, and electrical systems.

  • Strong knowledge of AC/DC motors, PLCs, and control systems.

  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and technical diagrams.

  • Experience with hand and power tools.

  • Welding and fabrication experience is a plus.

  • Ability to lift/push/pull 50-75 pounds multiple times per day.

  • Strong problem-solving and troubleshooting abilities.

Work Environment

  • Team : Currently, the maintenance team consists of 6 people, with plans to grow to 12.

  • Facility Size : Approximately 120 employees at the plant.

  • Dress Code : Jeans, steel-toed boots, and a t-shirt. All other personal protective equipment (PPE) is provided.

  • Temperature : The environment is not air-conditioned, so candidates must be comfortable working in varying temperatures.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $25.00 - $30.00/hr.
