Mechanical Engineer Intern – Summer 2025

Job Summary:

We are looking for a motivated Mechanical Engineer Intern to join our Sustaining Engineering Department. As part of our team, you will work on projects aimed at improving product designs and enhancing customer experience with our solar tracking systems. This role will provide hands-on experience in performing design of experiments (DOE), creating a 3D parts database, and gathering valuable field data. You will work closely with senior engineers to support critical design improvements and contribute to the ongoing success of our products in the field.

Duration of Internship: May 19th – August 8th

Key Job Responsibilities:

  • Assist in conducting Design of Experiments (DOE) to optimize design methodology for solar tracker components, ensuring higher efficiency, durability, and performance.

  • Create a 3D parts database for customer use, streamlining customer interactions and enhancing the product selection and installation experience.

  • Work with field teams to gather installation time study data from various project sites, helping the team analyze and improve installation processes and times.

  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including design, product management, and field operations, to enhance Array’s design, customer interface, and awareness of installed base conditions.

  • Support the Sustaining Engineering team in troubleshooting field issues and implementing design modifications based on real-world performance.

  • Assist in developing documentation and technical reports to support product improvements and design recommendations.

  • Analyze collected data to provide actionable insights that can be applied to future projects, ensuring continuous product improvements.

  • Contribute to process improvement initiatives within the Sustaining Engineering Department to enhance overall efficiency and product quality.

Qualifications:

  • Currently pursuing or recently completed a degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field.

  • Basic understanding of mechanical design principles and testing methodologies.

  • Experience with 3D modeling software such as SolidWorks, AutoCAD, or similar.

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to conduct experiments and interpret results.

  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.

  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.

  • Passion for renewable energy and sustainability

  • This position is located onsite in our Chandler, AZ office

  • Relocation is not available for this role.

  • US Person is required for this role.

  • Work hours will be Monday through Friday 8 am to 5 pm.

  • Juniors preferred as this opportunity has a strong chance of transiting into a full-time/perm role
