Job Title: Pharmacy Technician (Inpatient)
Job Description
A pharmacy technician assists pharmacists in various support activities and procedures involved in dispensing medical prescriptions. Responsibilities include gathering, inputting, and double-checking prescription, refill, and patient information, as well as receiving and organizing incoming supplies. Additionally, they might prepare labels and routine prepacked orders, and potentially handle certain clerical tasks related to the department.
Responsibilities
Gather, input, and double-check prescription, refill, and patient information.
Receive and organize incoming supplies.
Prepare labels and routine prepacked orders.
Handle certain clerical tasks related to the department.
Rotate through different pharmacy stations each shift (register, filling, input, insurance/prior authorizations, call center, etc.).
Interact with patients face-to-face depending on the assigned station.
Support various clinics within the hospital such as OR, vaccine clinic, mail order, and others.
Dispense compounds (no compounding required).
Essential Skills
Pharmacy technician certification (CPhT).
Retail pharmacy experience.
Pharmacy technician license.
Pharmacy technician certificate.
Inventory management.
Data entry skills.
Insurance and prior authorization handling.
Inpatient and outpatient pharmacy experience.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
1-2 years of pharmacy technician experience.
PTCB certification highly preferred and must be active after 6 months of employment.
SC State license with BOP.
Good communication and great customer service skills.
Hardworking and able to hit the ground running.
Takes initiative and finds tasks during slow periods.
Good teamwork and collaboration skills.
Work Environment
The position is within an outpatient pharmacy in a hospital setting.
The team consists of 50 members, including pharmacists, pharmacy interns, and pharmacy technicians.
It is a fast-paced environment where technicians are on their feet all day. Technicians must be comfortable interacting with a diverse patient population, including transplant, sickle cell, pediatrics, internal medicine, and employee medications.
The pharmacy handles a high volume of approximately 1200 scripts per day.
The software used includes Epic and Willow Ambulatory, with on-the-job training provided.
Pay Rate: $20-25/hr
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $20.00 - $25.00
