Universal Engineering Sciences Accounting Clerk in Charlotte, North Carolina

Position Summary:

The Accounting Clerk provides assistance to the Chief Financial Officer (CFO) through completion of accounting receivables/accounts payable transactions, invoicing, data entry, back-back up scheduling, as well as any other miscellaneous tasks as needed.

Job Responsiblities:

  • Audit/approve weekly timesheets

  • Set up projects in accounting software (Deltek Vantagepoint)

  • Maintain Project records throughout life-cycle of the job

  • Complete on-demand/monthly invoicing for production departments; to include submittal of all invoices

  • Navigate client portals, pay-applications, etc.

  • Complete collections for specific departments

  • Professional communication and accurate record keeping

  • Monthly reporting, to include monitoring of customer accounts and overdue payments

  • Request and monitor client issued purchase orders (PO) and extra purchase orders (EPO)

  • Research and monitor invoices for checks and deposits

  • Review and sign lien waivers (Hyphen and physical copies)

  • Assist with Draft Pulling/Distribution

  • Deltek Training/Implementation

  • Other duties as assigned

Qualifications & Skills:

  • Required:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent

  • Strong written and verbal communication and ability to use technology/computer

  • Strong customer service and multi-tasking skills

  • Preferred:

  • Bachelor of Science in business, accounting, finance or related field

  • Minimum of 1 year in an accounting position

  • Familiarity with Accounting software; Deltek, Excel and other MS Office applications

  • Skills:

  • Ability to enter numbers and data into computer software systems for accounting and payroll purposes and calculate basic math

  • Strong written and verbal communication and ability to use technology/computer

  • Ability to implement organized reporting systems and procedures

  • Strong customer service and multi-tasking skills

  • Ability to organize effectively, demonstrate strong time management abilities, plan, schedule, coordinate resources and effectively meet deadlines

  • Strong attention to detail

  • Must be self-directed personality; pro-actively offers assistance and solutions

  • Proficient knowledge and use of Excel and other Microsoft Suite programs

  • Ability to follow directions and carry out instructions in both verbal and written form

  • Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts and draw valid conclusions

  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business memos, periodicals, professional journals, proposals, technical procedures, and government regulations

  • Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, employees, clients, customers and the general public

  • Knowledge of Microsoft Suite and additional HR programs

  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills

  • Planning/organizing—the individual prioritizes and plans work activities, uses time efficiently and develops realistic action plans

  • Adaptability—the individual adapts to changes in the work environment, manages competing demands and is able to deal with frequent change, delays or unexpected events

Working Conditions & Physical Requirements:

  • Days and hours for this position are typically Monday-Friday, during the day

  • Some overtime work may be required

  • The work setting is in an office atmosphere

  • There is exposure to moderate levels of noise that could include a business office with computers and printers with light traffic throughout

  • Ability to use your senses to see (including close, distant and peripheral vision, depth vision and ability to focus), smell, hear and touch (use your hands to reach, climb or balance, crouch, stoop, crawl, kneel and sit)

  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit, walk, transport, and focus vision on the computer

  • This employee may occasionally lift and/or move up to 20lbs.

  • Must successfully pass pre-employment screenings to include background and reference checks
