TENURE TRACK ASSISTANT PROESSOR SEARCH IN CHEMISTRY

The Department of Chemistry at the University of Virginia invites applications for a tenure-track position in the field of synthetic organic chemistry with a focus on synthetic methods and strategies relevant to the preparation of complex molecules. This new faculty member will join a Department with existing interdisciplinary strengths in catalysis, drug discovery, chemical biology, and other areas that closely align with organic synthesis. The Department offers a collegial and supportive environment, and many opportunities for collaboration can be found in the School of Arts & Sciences, the School of Medicine, and the School of Engineering.

Qualifications

Candidates should have a Ph.D. in Chemistry or a subspecialty thereof, a record of excellence in scientific research, and a commitment to teaching at the undergraduate and graduate levels. Candidates should also have a well-documented track record of training and expertise in contemporary approaches to synthetic and mechanistic organic chemistry. We particularly value candidates who can advance the University’s ambition to cultivate the most vibrant community in higher education in order to prepare students to be leaders in a diverse and globally connected world.
