Job Description

We're hiring a Night Shift Supervisor to work at our Chattanooga, TN manufacturing site. The site is a leading global supplier of catalysts and other products and services to petroleum refiners; catalysts for the manufacture of plastics; silica-based engineered and specialty materials for a wide-range of industrial applications; specialty chemicals, additives and materials for commercial and residential construction, and sealants and coatings for food packaging.

As a Night Shift Supervisor, you will report to the Production Manager. You will be required to work a 12-hour shift 5:30pm to 5:30pm. This is a 24/7 manufacturing site, which also requires you to work nights, weekends and holiday when needed.

Responsibilities

  • Responsible for supervising a crew of hourly employees assigned to a shift in the performance of a variety of operating jobs

  • Shift responsibility is especially significant when assigned to a night shift

  • Plans, supervises and makes assignments to employees outlining the work to be performed according to formalized production plan

  • Responsible for safety training and maintaining safe work practices in accordance with the established plant guidelines

  • Responsible for the administration of Company’s EHS policies and procedures

  • Reviews the work performance of employees and takes necessary corrective action to improve employee productivity performance

  • Keeps informed and answers questions of employees concerning the provisions of the Labor Agreement. Endeavors to resolve any grievances which may occur

  • Instructs subordinates regarding work processes and methods of work performance

  • Supervises shift maintenance to make prompt repairs and product changes

  • Participates in the Plant’s ISO 9002 and Total Quality effort

Physical Requirements and Environment

  • Ability to follow safety protocols and standards working in a pilot plant facility with highly hazardous materials

  • Ability to work in a high hazard environment, including adverse weather conditions, elevated spaces, confined spaces, extreme temperatures, and noisy surroundings.

  • Must be able to stand, walk, sit, climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl, and climb stairs and ladders over 100 ft.

  • Must be willing to wear PPE (Personal Protective equipment) including but not limited to hard hat, protective eyewear, steel-toed boots, hearing protection, Level A suit, full face respirator

Required Qualifications

  • H.S. Diploma or GED.

  • 5 years of manufacturing experience

  • Ability to follow safe protocols and standards necessary to effectively in a chemical plant environment and learn chemical processes and equipment used in the operations.

  • Strong verbal and written communication skills at all levels within the organization.

  • Organized and detail oriented, particularly with regard to maintaining records.

Preferred Qualifications

  • 2 years of chemical operations experience, along with 2 years of supervisory experience

  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Products and SAP
