Chesapeake Regional Healthcare Maintenance Mechanic II in Chesapeake, Virginia
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
These duties and responsibilities described below represent the general tasks performed on a daily basis; other tasks may be assigned.
Make independent decisions based on test results and overall system requirements utilizing sound engineering judgment
Make all rounds and observe operating equipment for unusual noises, vibrations, and other telltale symptoms of possible problems
Take appropriate readings and interpret any variations from prior entries
Keep logs current and accurate
Unclog plumbing backups using blueprints for guidance
Operate power snakes and plungers, and remove various piping components as required
Basic knowledge of heating, air conditioning and refrigeration.
Ensure all preventive maintenance work orders are completed as assigned
Maintain inventory and stock of supplies used for facility and equipment repairs
Keep tools and parts in good operating condition
Keep assigned areas clean and in good overall appearance
Respond to trouble calls from the tenants of all Chesapeake Regional Medical Group buildings, including the hospital, ambulatory care centers, and medical office buildings
Respond to codes as required and assist Security as necessary
Assist in the testing of various alarm systems, i.e., fire Alarm System, etc.
Maintain the confidentiality of patient, personnel, and department information at all times
Attend required hospital-wide orientations, meetings, and in-services
Demonstrate a commitment to flexible work scheduling when necessary to ensure patient care
Repair/replace light fixtures (ballasts, bulbs etc.)
Education and Experience
Minimum Required Education: High school diploma or equivalent
Preferred Education: Graduation from an accredited trade/vocational school
Experience: 1 year in Facility Maintenance or related field.
Certificates, Licenses, Registrations
Preferred: Type I, Type II or Universal Refrigerant Certification (EPA)
