Unemployment Specialist Job Description
The Unemployment Specialist is responsible to respond to unemployment claims in a complete and timely manner. They will maintain unemployment files and costs of claims and provide quarterly reports to leadership. They will also collect data and prepare files for hearings, both by phone and in-person. They will also determine what claims will be protested and appealed on behalf of the company. The Unemployment Specialist will also follow-up on opportunity areas within key metrics and provide feedback to key business partners for improvement in their area of responsibility. Additionally, the Unemployment Specialist will communicate suggestions for improvement of unemployment claims processing.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Process all unemployment claims completely within the specified deadlines
Process daily requests for information to the State
Ensure proper documentation is provided to the State timely
Assist third-party vendor in the contacting and scheduling of witnesses to participate in unemployment hearings
Confer with the Unemployment Manager on all major unemployment claims
Complete state audits for unemployment purposes
Develop and maintain key metric reports quarterly
Organize and prioritize daily mail for the Unemployment Department
Assist with other duties as assigned by the Unemployment Manager and VP of Disbursements
Minimum Requirements/Qualifications
6 months or more experience in a personnel/human resources environment
Ability to work efficiently and effectively in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment
Detail-oriented and able to prioritize and multitask
Ability to work independently and in a team environment
Computer literacy required
Strong oral and written communication skills are mandatory
Strong organizational and filing skills
Ability to understand key business metrics
